Looking for a cool official pic of stormbringer

Mage

Mongoose
I figured if I would ever get a tatoo, it would be of the sword stormbringer, around my leg or torso, so if anyone has links to a good pic, please show.

I am certainly not the first or last to do it, but you guys probably know the best area to find it.

And tatoos with colours are for girls.
Just black and white.

Look at the last picture and it's fooftnote in this post here.

Also check out Moorcock's Miscellany (Moorcock's official site) and look at the images of of stormbringer used in the forum for what stormbringer is supposed to look like as envisioned by the author (note that the number of runes in the forum posting determines the 'rank' of the poster, like shrew or stoat here - Stormbringer would have runes along the length of it's blade - think LBH).

My favourte version is by Rodney Matthews and depicted in a poster used as the album art for Diamond Head's 'Living on Borrowed Tme' album.

I always saw it as a dull, black, lead-looking blade covered in red runes, looking ancient, but nothing special. Something similar in design to this:

It's ok. It's missing the blood red runes that run down the blood groove of the blade.

This is a larger picture. As you can see it has the runes in the blade.

Trouble is to get blood red runes you'll need to stab someone with it first!

I did something similiar once, wanted a cool sword. Got stuck with the pin gun thingy once, and all I ended up with was a circle of 10 dots. I was and forever will be a WIMP when it comes to tatoos.

By the way, I love the pic of the sword with the scabbard, seems appropriate to me..

There is no "official" Stormbringer image. Michael Moorcock cites the Cawthorn's version as being the closest to his original vision of the sword. Specially this one:

This image has also led to the incorrect idea that Elric is a dark elf, or even an elf. There's a thread about that at multiverse.org.

Walt Simonson's renditions of Stormbringer on the covers of Elric: Making of the Sorcerer are three of the Stormbringer's that Moorcock authorized over the last 40 years, except the fourth which is Simonson's original. Note that Elric is raising Stormbringer higher with each cover. By the way, the artwork within those comics is like nothing I've ever seen before. Also, issue one is awesome. Also note that the Actorios stone is embedded in the handle of the sword. http://www.multiverse.org/imagehive/v/bookcovers/comiccovers/Originals/album29/

The sword that was posted above can be customized. Go to this album to see more photos of the Stormbringer above, and check out the Moorcock authorized scimitar: http://www.multiverse.org/imagehive/v/misc/Stormbringer/

To get an idea what your tattoo might look like, check out the tattoo album here: http://www.multiverse.org/imagehive/v/Artwork/album54/ Here's what Gould's Stormbringer looks like:

Your going to find piles of Stormbringers in the book cover section: http://www.multiverse.org/imagehive/v/bookcovers/books/mikebooks/

This is my personal favorite, cover, Elric and Stormbringer:

The idea of that image was mine, but Kirk Starr known as PhyscicWarVeteran was the artist who created those images. HIs blog is called Cthulhu Is My Copilot and can be found here: http://kirkstarr.vox.com/

Pretty cool, huh?
