Lone Wolf to become Einsamer Wolf again

Cut

Mongoose
I have just read that Mongoose's version of the Lone Wolf Gamebook Saga will see a translation into german and a release starting next year by a new RPG and Fantasy-stuff publisher http://www.manticorverlag.de/

I think that's great news indeed :)

Der Einsamer Wolf kehrt zurück.

Für die Kai :)

That is excellent news, I don't even know German languages so well but I'm a Lone Wolf collector of rang I will still buy the German version :)

It is great that Lone Wolf is read all over the world and that must play a huge part in it's longevity. It is great that the books are in so many languages, I am so lucky to have english as my first language and have the utmost respect for international friends who have to translate for themselves.

The guys involved in this translation project are members of TotS. Here's what they told us back in September:

JD as always has the last word on the books
how will we distrubute the books?
well i will contacted and will further contact game stores in austria and my friend will work and has already worked through germany
price?
we plan to hold the price around 15-20 euro per book
it might be even possible (although my friend and i don t really like the idea) to have the first two lw books in just a volume to make the costs for us and the buyer cheaper

layout and artwork
as my friend and i are no artists we will use the art already used by JD for his books
if somebody is talented and wants to help you are welcome
although i have to say the last word as always is JD, and if he says no, it is a no
if JD likes it great, but i can t tell you what you will be paid for your work but i will simply ask my partner

I actually do. Are you with the publisher? Do you know a release date for the books?

in a way yes

i am translating the books from english to german and i am proofreading too
further i try to the best of my ability to translate the unique style of the lone wolf books into german (which is really difficult)
and as a long time lone wolf fan, i will try to correct the old mistakes which were made in the first translation back in the 80ties

as for the release date: if all goes as planned we will see book 1 in spring 09 and book 2 in early winter

Very nice.

I write reviews for a german RPG site (dnd-gate.de) and I have already reviewed the first new Lone Wolf book by Mongoose. Looking forward to be reading your work and hope that your efforts bear fruit :)

I´ve never read the Lone Wolf Books and was very pleased to see that the http://www.manticorverlag.de/ translate it.

Can Somebody give me a short Summary about the Saga?

@Methos,
have you got a current release date?

Wikipedia my friend. It's pretty much complete:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lone_Wolf_(gamebooks)

(copy and paste the link in your browser)

Very interesting reading. Having gone through it, one thought springs to mind:

Whatever happened to the video hames planned for release in August 2008?

@Methos,
have you got a current release date?

for book 1 it should be spring 2009 (if nothing unexpected happens)

as for book 2, i have started recently with the translation, and if all goes well we will see book 2 in fall 2009

That's the Ksatria game, and now we really don't know when it will be available. Maybe next year? As for the mobile phone, no news since JD announced it in November 2007.

Hi, I am new to Lone Wolf.
Are the mistakes in the English original all corrected in the German version?
I read of missing sections and other stuff here in the forum.

Anybody already played/read the German versions?

EDIT:
I am talking about these mistakes:

Hi all, is the current prints of book 3 and 4 free from the errors (missing sectio 192 and equipment)?

Thanks in advance.
Book 3 will be available in April (RPC 2010 in Cologne). So of course nobody can check that out yet. But maybe some minor mistakes in books 1 and 2?

Ok, now I own the German edition of books 1 and 2 and started playing book 1.

I neeed help with some mistakes in book 1:

  • *Section 496 leads to section 278, which is obviously wrong. Which is the correct section?
*Section 269 is missing completely. Can someone post the English text of section 269 (or send it to me via PM)?

Thank you for your help.
