License Question

Cosmic Mongoose
This is probably a lame question, but I'm not up on licensing issues and so forth. If I write a "Legend" compatible scenario, am I going to get into trouble for referring to other Mongoose publications? Specifically, if at the end of a demon stat block I insert the line "If using this demon in the Elric of Melniboné setting published by Mongoose Publishing its summoning cost is x Magic Points." Does that contravene any licensing stuff?

I don't see how it would as I'm not quoting any text directly, but I want to be 100% sure.

Wow that's a surprise response.
Even if it's a scenario release for non-profit?

I have some Scenarios that are a WIP. They are Elric Scenarios (originally written for MRQ2, but clearly compatible with Legend) .
So this means I can't put them on my website to be downloaded for free?

I think you would need written permission from Mongoose to use the Elric setting as they own the RPG rights to MM's Eternal Champion series. What you create for your own gaming group, is one thing. Distributing that is quite another, i.e. free scenarios.

However, if you were to submit them to Mongoose for publishing in S&P and they accepted them, there wouldn't be an issue as they own the Elric RPG license. I think that's where my OP comes unstuck, I'm referencing a 3rd parties licensed product without their consent, so that line of text would contravene the license or whatever. The bulk of my 'work' is fine as it's all OGL and there is, so far at least, only one direct quote from the MRQ2/Legend rules.

I hope I'm understanding this correctly, but I may be way, way off. If someone could clarify (without getting to leagalese) it would be greatly appreciated.

I know I asked for simple clarification, but that's a bit too simple!

I think you have it - basically, such things are off limits, but if you have a burning idea for something, contact us. We may well be interested in publishing it ourselves!

Thanks for confirming that Matt.

Is Nick still the best person to get in touch with regarding scenarios etc?
