Legend Templates

Cosmic Mongoose
Now that Legend is officially here and Mongoose are keen on 3rd Party supplements, are there any Word Documents/Templates available that will help produce supplements with a similar look and feel?

Although I can probably set Word up with the appropriate paper size, column width and so on, it would be easier just to use a standard template.

I tried sending a PM to Matt Sprange, but he has turned this off (understandable, really).

I am interested in something similar. It would be cool to be able to produce supplements that fit the overall style.
Especially if we end up contacting Mongoose to see if they wish to publish (Matt has hinted in the other thread that they are open for proposals), it will save Mongoose a lot of time on setting up the layout if they are already similar.

I've set a up table templates in word, 1 for creature and 1 for NPC's that follow the layout of S&P statistic blocks. PM or email if you'd like a copy. I'm not sure how they compare to Legend ones, I'm waiting for Legend to become available as a PDF.

That's all I've done so far.

So it will indeed be available in PDF form, correct? I bought the book at my local FLGS last night and anxious to see what the differences are.

I seriously doubt there will be any, Daddystabz. The PDF's are usually the same as those sent to the printer but without the crop marks and so forth.

My reference to wondering what changes there will be was in regard to MRQII to legend. Not the difference between book and PDF.

I'd like to see those. In fact I don't see why Mongoose would mind if we as a group of players came up with some minimal style stat blocks and layouts. It would be useful to have a standardized format for us or newer 3rd party supplements to follow.

My apologies, I thought you had bought Legend.

Below is a link to the word templates I created. They are nothing flash or out of the ordinary, but do provided 'standard' formatting for creature stat blocks. Note: these are .dotx files so you need MS Word 2007 or later.

Sorry, posted an incorrect example.
The first column after the characteristics abbreviations for monsters should be used for their die rolls and the second column for the average value. If entering a specific value, leave the die column blank, the same applies to NPC's. The only difference is that the NPC weapons section has a column for "range" otherwise they're the same. I generally tab through filling the values as needed. When I get to the armour, skills and so on I press return to insert a blank line between the cells.

I like it. Unfortunately its a bit on the large size. I'm going to play around with it and see if I can make a mini-stat block so you can fit maybe 6 or more to a page.

Thanks. They are that size to be in the same format as the stat blocks from S&P. But knock yourself out! I'd like to see how you go.

Hi guys,

Here is a sample trap stat block I created. I'd be interested in feedback.

Poisoned, Spiked Pit Trap

Before anyone comments about how easy it is to detect and therefore possibly disarm, it is easy for a reason. It is actually nested with a magical trap on the door, similar to the D&D Glyph of Warding. Please keep this in mind when commenting.

Mongoose do not use Word for their documents, so they don't have any templates.

But, keep different templates coming and we'll make our own ones for 3rd party publications.
