But all that kit, is 20+ years ago. Battle Evo, is meant to be set 10 years in the future!

I'm pretty sure the AK-47 will stay on the battlefield for a few more years due to the fact that it can take almost any sort of treatment and it's easy to maintain and all that. But that's just the AK-47 then.

From one of my favorite movies, Lord of War:

Of all the weapons in the vast soviet arsenal, nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947. More commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It's the world's most popular assault rifle. A weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple 9 pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood. It doesn't break, jam, or overheat. It'll shoot whether it's covered in mud or filled with sand. It's so easy, even a child can use it; and they do. The Soviets put the gun on a coin. Mozambique put it on their flag. Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars.

My other favorite line from the move is:
There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That's one firearm for every twelve people on the planet. The only question is: How do we arm the other 11?

So yeah, the AK-47 will be around for a while...even 10 years in the furture.

That's what I said. But I didn't know about the Lord of War quote.

USA and other countries keep making new guns. If the Russians just improved the flaws of the AK-47 they wouldn't need to make new models, and thus saving resources for other things.

Yep...

Now, for paint jobs, since we're talking 10 years in the furture, Digital Camo will big a big deal. The following are a selection of digital camoflauge from a few nations..

I have 4 sections of 8 men plus a 4 man command, 2 81mm mortar teams, and a GPMG team plus a section of 8 paras for Brits. Oh yeah, and I found a cheap 1/48 harrier model :)

I have 2 mechanized squads of 7 Iraqi Regulars(in BMPs) a BRDM2, and about 40 fedayeen for my iraqis.

I also have 2 squads of 8 delta force and a pair of Forces of Valor Blackhawks to go with them.

T34, in service since 1940 T-55 introduced 1947, also still in service,
;)

Agreed...but thats because the Russians never mothball stuff. I can hardly see a Chieftan being used now, or in 10 days (excluding engineering vehicles). We dont have the same military ethic, as the former Warsaw Pact countries.

crucible_orc, where are the BMPs from, i'm looking for some comparisons with 1/56 vehicles and TAG

Reaverman, it's always better to have more tanks:)

Reaverman <- Thanks, but I stole/barrowed them from some nice fella on Militaryphotos.net

Talking about military photos. If I remeber correctly you said it was hard to find pictures of swedish military stuff. In fifteen minutes I've found pics of swedish soldiers with AK5's, Strv/90's, KSP's and alot more. Simply put, it's all a matter of where to look

At least no newspaper
You know, that was 1814. We kicked Russia, Denmark and Norway's tails long ago. Not sure wich year though, pretty sure that we can do it again if they tried.
