Japan-like in Hyboria?

i'd imagine the hyrkanians never conquered khitai because the sorcerers in khitai are way too powerful to be easily conquered.
also, the japanese were the only ones who ever really seriously kicked the mongols in the pants.

Not exactly, a mighty storm did destroy all the Mongol fleet with the guys who were on the ship. Afterwards, the Mongols never tried again to conquer the Japanese islands.
The Japanese then named this storm the Kamikaze, which means "divine wind".

not exactly, there was more than one ship in the fleet, hence it being called a fleet, which didn't destroy all the 'guys'. in any case the mongols tried to invade japan and got kicked in the pants and thats why they never conquered japan. weather, logistics, and all kinds of other things are all a part of the outcome of every battle.

Funny you have a French reply. I just forgot an s and then? Are you still counting the dead? But do you begin with 0 or with 1? Are there so many difference between much and many?
here is a link on these events: http://www.american.edu/ted/ice/divine-wind.htm

Ive been planning on using the riddle of steel in a couple of adventures for a while, but instead of the resolution being a concept like Thulsa Dooms theory, I would have it as the secrets of forging a fine atlantean steel (something similar to Akbitanan) hidden deep in mt. Crom where Shuma-Gorath was bound, because id like to have him(her/it?) make a guest appearance as well for some Crom! factor.
Also as part of that, there would be some sort of wizard trying to prove that Shuma-Gorath IS Crom, hence the superstition that praying to him results in dooms being sent from the mountain. (Shuma not being a very social kinda demon lord)

Note: Shuma-Gorath I got from Hyboria's Finest p.61, im not sure where hes from originally.

It’s interesting, in the Call of Cthulhu supplement Secrets of Japan, the Japanese are descendants of a people who escaped the sinking of Mu. Their race became the Yayoi on the Japanese Islands. Apparently they co-existed peacefully with the snake-men but after they conducted a great experiment that brought about their destruction the escaped through a magic gateway to what would become the Japanese islands. Amaterasu the goddess of the sun in Japanese Shinto, is actually the sorceress who made the gate. The tangential connection between the Chuthlu Mythos and Conan’s world made me remember this. So maybe Mu would be a good place to set a proto-Japanese culture. Just a thought
