Is there any need for a crew score?

  • Yes. I like tracking damage and crew.

  • No. It is just time consuming. Two damage scores!?

Additionally there is the fact that whitestars have more problems with their crew than they do with damage. Personally i quite like the crew score.

If we start attacking people for how well they type, this will become a very unfriendly place very quickly. I can't spell for toffee which probably annoys some, while I find the use of abriviations that I don't know irritating. That's not what this is about.

What this is about is whether crew ratings should be dropped.

EmpPen, why exactly do you want to dump them again?

I think its because he only wants one way to record damage, and not bother with crew scores. So in his game, ships are either 'Crewed' or debris. There will be no unmanned ships, or trophies for the enemy to claim.

My only issue with Crew, is that the damage is always done to the hull and crew at the same time (except crits and DD weapons hitting bulkheads of course). A normal hit will always do 1 damage and kill 1 crew. Thats a bit strange, that the crew are so equally spaced out in the ship, that each point of damage the ship takes, kills 1 person ;)

Better would be to have a "Hull" which determines whether the ship itself gets damaged, and "Crew Vulnerability" rating which determines whether crew get killed. Of course the management for this would be ridiculous, so I say, keep it how it is. I'll just stick to imagining all the crew spaced equally along the length of the ship.

Hi Reaver, I get that he wants to do away with it, just want to hear him say why, clearly if possible. There might be a valid argument lurking under the surface there somewhere (you never know).

Breaching pods would become kinda useless too. And "Stand Down!" special order will mean your ship's computer telling the other ship's computer to stand down?

@Nightmares: try reading the original post ;)

I never claimed I was an expert in English, Grammar or Languages.

I was merely pointing out that, just becuase you dont like the admin side of the game, does not mean we all have the same problem. Some of us like to have the Crew, and Damage levels seperate. Like I said, it becomes more important when using the campaigns. Since you have crew quality, and experience. So clumping damage, and crew into one block would not make any sense.

You need to lighten up! You attacked my admin skills for no reason so I criticised your poor grammar

36 down there? Harsh. It's 30 here and I wish it wasn't...
God knows what it is here, but it isn't bloody natural for Scotland...

Wulf

Is anyone here from Manchester? Is it raining there? I thought it was Newton's fourth law or something which says "it always rains in Manchester regardless of the weather elsewhere"

I am from there, and yes it does. But according to my Mum, its been hot there too.

Back on course, and I think it's a 97% majority that most players want to keep crew stats on ships!

hmm, it was 35 degrees in canada(southern ontario), 43 with humidity.

I don't particularly see how marking off crew takes any more time then damage. your brother must move very slowly for you to complain about crew like that(no offense intended).

I've played other games with people who were really bloody slow though, so i can sympathize.

Steve
