Independent mars fleet?

I was wondering about the fact that when mars becomes independent, do they get a fleet and if so are there any rules or house rules for a mars fleet?

Wouldn't be much of a point for Mars to have a fleet besides a few patrol ships. Strictly speaking, there are buried deep inside EA space so no outside force would be able to attack them directly, and no one planet would be able to mount an actual offense against the EA in that sort of position. Politically, an independent Mars would be much like like Puerto Rico or any other protectorate state; locally independent and outside of EA law, but most likely having some recognition by the larger state. B5 Wars mentioned something about a Belt Alliance, which would be in the same sort of position?

Beside, aint 4 human fleets enough?

Mars isn't fully independent, it is listed as an "independent member of the EA" in one crusade episode iirc

They rely on Earth for defence, so Crusade era fleet

Far too much bad blood between Mars and the EA, Would think Mars has more to fear from Earth than any outside threat........so perhaps might probably buy ships that do not rely on Earth for spare parts.....maybe the Narn might oblige....thats a nice thought a refurbished T'Loth in the Free Mars Customs Protection Flotilla.

Honestly, I only ever Really followed the first 4 seasons and even then managed to miss quite a few episodes (I expect my DVD collection of seasons 1-4 to be complete by the end of this year). So I just want to make sure I am keeping this stuff straight...

I believe the main shipyard that built the Victory class Destroyer for the ISA is on Mars. And Fluff historically, the EA post a large fleet at Mars to safe-guard the path to Earth. There are 2 instances this Strategem failed.

I believe its highly likely that the Mars goverment would have acquired Patrol Boats and perhaps a few frigates to control its own space.

You know...after watching it again after a few years its not quite so bad as i remember it......I guess the lack of anything else (TLT not included) makes me grateful that there was something.
It was aimed at a different audience from B5......more OC in Space....who knows given a chance it could have improved....sot of B5 Lite....and with the hand of God....a reset back to scary ancient aliens etc...etc....etc...."shadows were but insects" etc..etc

The Fx were ok (not the B5 at the end though) ....even the the VR weapons pod would have been ok...an extension of the battle bridges on the Minbari cruisers....but the female ranger having the hissy fit everytime she went in there was a bit tedious and grating.

It just struck me as very formulaic with the "Hand of God" being yet another ancient race that's powerful beyond comprehension. Made no sense though - how come they didn't leave with the other First Ones? How can they be so much more powerful than the Shadows but never make themselves known? What was the point of setting up this new enemy when the Drakh situation wasn't resolved. LotR should have focused on the Drakh war, rather than the plight of Earth as in Crusade.

Kinda hard to make themselves known when you are behind locked door you can't open yes? Thirdspace aliens seemed pretty powerful as well...Wonder why we didn't see them before thirdspace movie then?

Meh, I don't remember enough about that appalling film to recall those details. So sue me.

Thirdspace was pretty good.
And, as I recall, they were supposed to be more powerful than the Vorlons. That's why the Vorlons slammed the portal shut as soon as they opened it.

I have tried to forget as much about Legend otr as possible. It was painfully stupid and I wanted my time back after watching it. The whole "must be a martial-artist to fire the weapons" deal was probably the worst part. And that's not even discussing the lack of acting...

Still all it took was JJS to shout "get the hell outta our galaxy" to get rid of the Vorlons and Shadows. ..........despite the brilliance of other elements of B5....for me the worst moment ever....I know if he'd been promised a Season 5 earlier we might have avoided that......but leaves me cold uch!....."oooohh will we be alone"....no Lorien can hold your many segemented hands
