I have three Imaro books (which follow each other chronologically):

- Imaro
- Imaro: The Quest for Kush
- Imaro: The Trail of Bohu

At least in the first book, each chapter is basically its own short story that can be enjoyed on its own.

As for the contents, Imaro is basically a "black Conan" and his world is a slightly "fantastic" version of our own Africa, with some Arabian-style characters and cultures as you would expect on the east coast of Africa. You've got fierce beasts, evil sorcerers, aquatic deep ones, magic gems, lost cities, ancient demons and (if I remember correctly) mass battles.

The writing is actually very good. I highly recommend these books to all Conan fans. As for relevance to the Conan RPG, the Imaro stories practically beg to be translated into adventures in the Black Kingdoms of Hyboria.
