High-Capacity Magazine

Ok, I keep trying to figure out what I am missing, I feel like I should know this. How much "extra" ammo does the High-Capacity Magazine hold? For the life of me I can't figure it out. :|

Here is the entry in the CSC for the High-capacity Magazine
High-capacity Magazine: The ability for a weapon to hold more ammunition before requiring a change in magazine is always beneficial, especially on high rate-of-fire automatic weapons. High-capacity magazines, while bulky in use, are designed to solve this problem. Multiply the mass and cost of a weapon’s standard magazine to purchase a high-capacity version. The referee may rule that some weapons (such as many shotguns) cannot use high-capacity magazines.

Item TL Kg Cost
High-capacity Magazine 4 x2 x3

If the weight is being multiplied by 2, I'd assume the ammunition count would be multiplied as well.
While your assumption seems logical, I would again suggest that it shouldn't be left to a player or GM guessing. In a case like this, it should be spelled out clearly in the entry.

My copy of the CSC Says this: (Emphasis added for clarity)

"HIGH-CAPACITY MAGAZINE
The ability for a weapon to hold more ammunition before requiring a change in magazine is always beneficial, especially
on high rate-of-fire automatic weapons. High-capacity magazines, while bulky in use, are designed to solve this problem.
Multiply the mass and cost of a weapon’s standard magazine to purchase a high-capacity version. This will double
the magazine’s capacity
of the weapon. The referee may rule that some weapons (such as many shotguns) cannot use
high-capacity magazines."

It seems pretty clear that doubling the mass means doubling the number of bullets. Since I don't see the weight given for the magazine of any of the weapons, I would just ignore the mass unless the player is trying to haul 20 high-capacity machinegun mags around.

MgT 2e did away with magazine weight...

no, I don't know why either.

Use an earlier version of Traveller if you want to know magazine capacities, costs and mass.

No it didn't. MgT2 did away with magazine weight. Magazine capacity and cost are clearly spelled out on the weapon tables.

Edit: Well, I think MgT1 didn't have magazine weights either, so MgT2 didn't actually remove anything regarding magazines.

Sorry, I meant weight.

Which is pretty vital if you want to know how many mags/rounds/power packs you have when facing a horde of "Chamax"

I will edit for clarity of intent.

Point still remains - if you want magazine weight see an earlier version of Traveller.
