Grow your own Shadows

I've just followed a link in the EA Boreas Cutter thread (over to http.//foxfire.fatal.ru) an they have some very interesting shadows, too...
a more swept- back looking Advanced Fighter,
the standard fighter and 'battlecrab',
a Shadow Chaser- single Hunter- like row of side tentacles and forebody like a triceratops' head with elephant tusks as well,
a Guard (two layers to the Battlecrab's 3);
a Carrier- looks something between a giant fighter and a side on view of a camel, actually, with longer side tentacles in proportion and a blunter nose;
a Shadow Helix (?)- flattish body with a pair of sub- tentacled crab pincers in front and long, swept back tentacles behind;
what they call a Shadow Hybrid, which seems to be the Hunter;
a Shadow Looter (seen just before the big kaboom, at Za'ha'dum? it must be late if I'm prepared to perpetrate something as awful as that...)- flattish body, outline defined by it's tentacles, sub- spiked hammerhead sharkhead;
the usual Scout;
Shadow Seeker, swept back shape with lots of aft tentacles, seems small

Yes, the reason I'm giving descriptions instead of letting you see for yourselves is because I can't work out how to copy and paste the image across. (Bloody computers, didn't have those in the tenth century, found our way by guess and by Odin, grumble grumble Bill Gates' head and a Dalcassian axe, grumble.)
Anyway; is this a useful resource? Should I start throwing numbers at them and see what sticks?

Yeah i have the same problem too

how to link images:

a) right click image in webbrowser and select properties

b) highlight images adress and copy it

c) open a forum post

d) click the img button

e) paste

f) click the img button again

voila

like so:

m13.jpg

Note that not all images support hyperlinking like this and you shouldnt do it for copywrited materials. You can link your own stuff like this too if you shove it into photobucket or something first :D

It should look like this when you've done:
[ img ]http://www.whatever.com/picture.jpg[ /img ]
...without the spaces inside the square brackets.

As I understand how you're supposed to do it, an image can't be brought in from another web site as such, or from your own hard disk (why not?). Copy and paste by browser doesn't work, the only way to do it seems to be to have a web domain of your own and transfer from there. So basically I'd have to set up my own web site with a handy Photobucket or port the images from Foxfire across to a friendly site- isn't this copyright violation?- and from there to here. Computers, feh. I almost certainly do have this wrong.

Anyway; this is a lot of variety and a good modelling resource- but let's keep going with the present idea before branching out.
I'm still tinkering with the Shadow Ship; trying not to make it as fast as it keeps wanting to be.

nah you need the IMAGES actual url not the right click copy bit, you must open the properties and copy the url listed there to link to another website image. Also if you want to upload your own images from your hard disk you can get a free chunk of upload space on www.photobucket.com :)

If the pic you want is on your hard drive:

1. Go to http://www.imageshack.us
2. Click the "browse" button.
3. Find the pic on your hard drive, press "Open".
4. Press the "Host it!" button.
5. Copy the contents of the box entitled "Hotlink for forums (1)".
6. Paste this into your message here.

photobucket.com can also be used, that is more oriented towards permanantly storing the images rather than a throwaway forum posting. It's a bit more complicated to use, requires signing up etc, but retreiving your images aat a later date is much easier.

Photobucket works for me. Thats where my avatar is stored as well as the images in the 'what have you painted today' thread. You need to copy and paste the BB URL, it should have the square bracket format.
