Fleet Pictures...

Court Jester

Mongoose
I have just finished working on the first section my EA fleet which is my first forray into ACTA. I painted the models in a different colour scheme to what is considered cannon and this got me thinking.

I would be really interested in seeing any and all pictures people have of their painted fleets. No matter the quality or size or whatever. I would be espcially interested in seeing the pictures if the fleet has an alternative colour scheme... If such a thread already exists I apologise...

Here are some pictures of my ships and fighters, these took me a couple of evenings to get finished. Normally I would spend quite a bit of time on my models but I wanted to get these finished and onto the gaming table... So I used quick techniques and very simple colour schemes. Anyhow I have a Minbari fleet on the way that I can take my time on...

I think the fighters took up most of my painting and assembly time...

I like the colors and how the fighters seem to be doin their own things in a loose formation, bet that spruces up the old table when you're mixing it up, nice!

I agree... :D

Having spent the last two weeks watching all 5 series of B5 for the first time one thing that stuck with me was that my fighters should look more like they do in the series with various hights and formations. All the black wire looks a bit odd on the white background but I am hoping it will sort itself out on a "space" gaming table... :?

I like the scheme, simple yet effectively done.

I did nearly the same thing with my Vorlon Fighters, just on hexagonal aluminum bases. :D

I'll post pics this weekend if I can.

Jester, I really like the mounting of the fighters. I've been considering how to do this with my own minis, but could never come up with anything reasonable. Any chance you can give us some details? it looks as though you've clipped the post on the fighters and then drilled into them a bit for the mounting wire. is this right?

Very cool, man. I dig it.

I really like the Fighters being up like that. Definitely should give them more of a presence on the table, although it might be harder to place them in base to base with enemy ships (although enemy fighters will be sitting beneath you.

The color scheme is cool. Helps that you chose two of my favorite ships, The Apollo and the Delphi. They work well together.

My only thought would be "Do something with the bases". Throw some white dots on it for stars, write the name of the ship on it....something.

Great Job.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Other than the Mongoose website does anyone know any good websites with ACTA pictures? Games in progress, beauty shots etc...?

Yep thats about it. :)

I went to a florist shop and bought wire that would usually be used for growing plants up (I think) and clipped that to length. I clipped off the fighter's peg and drilled into them with a pin-drill and did the same with the base. On any future bases though I will be using less superglue to avoid the unsightly excess glue at the bottom of each piece of wire.

I agree, I was worried that it may look over corwded of slightly out of scale but I think I could work something out.

This could be a nice options for centauri

Miato-class Advanced Cruiser (Liati Variant)
Description: After the revelation of the Drakh's presence within the Republic, the new emperor Cotto launched a full and sudden recall on all ships in the Republic navy to root out any lingering Drakh Keepers, and discover if any hidden and potentially harmful technology was installed within the navy. While most Adira's were left in service, many Liati's were kept in drydock while the Centaurum decided what to do with them. Keeping the design as it was would surely have been seen as hostile by the ISA, while completely decommissioning such an advanced cruiser would have been a waste. On the suggestion of certain houses, a few Liati were kept in service with the Expeditionary Fleet, while many were converted into a less specialized design that would be used as a first strike cruiser. The Success of the Miato is under much discussion and scrutiny by the Centaurum, and only time will tell if it will be a mainstay.

Used either in concert with a Liati or in large attack groups, the Vorchal can match the speed, if not the agility, of any White Star vessel, and can intercept the dangerous White Star Fighter while the Liati's hunt down their parent ships.
