Just an idea of the Centauri Royal transport

have fun! :)

The Lions Lair, Royal Liner, (Primus Variant)
A symbol of the power and glory of the Centauri republic, the Lions Lair is a transformed Primus Class Battlecruiser. Adorned in gold and with staterooms replacing crew quarters, it is a palace in space with almost as many servants as trained crew. However elite guardsmen patrol the corridors, whilst the best the Royal Navy can offer guide the ship through space. Defensive systems are primary, but the ship still retains a powerful claws should they be needed, and of course it never travels alone.

Elite Crew (6) – the Lions Lair is crewed by the best the Royal Navy can offer and hence has CQ 6 in one off scenarios and campaigns as well as in general play.

Nice idea, one point I'd raise given the Centauri background. Should it really be the best crew...frankly Centauri politics are murky as anything and the crew will be picked for loyalty first and ability second IMO. Good yes, the best - not necessarily if a more reliable but poorer quality officer is around.

that's an idea I'd like to see in campaign play. I'd like more of the racial character to show through, in the case of the Centauri, such a class based society would promote and assign based on wealth and connections, not ability. A bit like the British army of years gone by.

@Da Boss, the speed is too low. A regular Primus is speed 8, this ship shouldn't be slower since it would run from fights

Thanks for the comments -

Myrm - it s a good point and I am a little torn - bits I had seen about the Royal Guard was that they were very good - there is abit about them being telepathically loyal as well....maybe a bonus against boarding actions and a normal crew rating..........hmmmm

EP - thanks - yeah I figured a slow stately royal barge was the way to go - more likely to rely on its escorts to dispose of threats whilst it cruised away?

I was also thinking of a bonus for enemies - ie

Primary target: Enemies always receive double VP for destroying this ship.

.

no I'd stick with the high CQ. Since there is no problem with an Admiral taking a high CQ crew on his flagship (when he'd also choose those most loyal)

Definitely up the speed though

Im not saying give them an average CQ, I think it would be better than average - Im just saying I dont think they should be automatically considered the best as other issues are in there. Perhaps a random element to the CQ as the ability may flutuate depending on who manoevured themselves on board for this mission.

If telepathic control is used would that not mean a lot of telepaths around - perhaps that might be an ability that could be worked with on an above average CQ. Maybe reduce the skeleton crew number as the crew make superhuman efforts

I'd expect a lot of troopers on board to defend the emperor, and them to be slave-ishly devoted (naturally or telepath induced) so a very high rating there certainly.

A good command rating is required since the Emperor is so important.

These are alll things that make the ship ultimately survivable, without necessarily being the most superb elite combat unit in Centauri space, which is the set up you appeared to be aiming for.

Hmm yes - I also put the Elite Crew thing as a trait partially because you can now loose them as part of the effects of Criticals.

Thanks for all the ideas - helpful! :)

re the telepaths - apparentlywhen the Royal Guards inducted they are assisted with the loyalty oath...........

have fun :)

Battle lasers? On a diplomatic transport? Aren't those a little too offensive? I would say remove them and cover the thing with twin arrays (defensive), increase the speed (so it CAN escape a fight it can't win) and increase the intercepter value (uber defensive).

This thing should be built like a brick shit house... not a glass cannon.

Just my 2 cents.

:?

there are no more twin arrays....

the point is that the turrets of the Primus are absent but the beam emitters are not so Da Boss is being logical about it

Those tubes may serve another function, though... or may not really be beam emitters at all...

To be fair, it should be loaded down with interceptors and a silly anti-fighter value, but have basically no offensive firepower. That's what the six Vorchans are for... and probably another dozen holding back in hyperspace, with fighter support... 8)

Again thanks for thoughts:

my thoughts:

Battle lasers - As EP said just trying to make it fit both the screen and our present ACTA Primus. Also I could imagine a Centuari Emperor standing with a drink on his bridge and saying - "kill that" - be it a ship, a giant target drone in shape of a Narn or a city on a planet for the amusement of the Court etc

Defences - I have increased both Anti fighter and given it Interceptors unlike the standard battlecruiser.

Hull - I figured making the whole thing into a floating Palace / pleasure cruiser is going to comprimise the hull interegrity a bit? It is still hull 6 and reasonable damage but huge ballrooms and dinning areas with viewing ports rather than bulkheads? Or am I imagining a different ship? :)

Still I will a have a rethink and repost

thanks again for input :)

A fighter complement wouldn't be out of the question. By the same logic as the battle lasers, the Emperor might well want his personal fighter squadron close at hand for fly-by shows and similar nonsense. The fact they're piloting Rutarian strike fighters is beside the point...

Might stick with Raziks - as better at cool acrobatics? Bit like we don't use Tornados for displays - still use Hawks? Or am I very out of date - not using the Typhoon are we? :)

There's a few images of Sentris buzzing around and flying escort, I tried to capture one of them
