Okay, this is vaguely annoying :)

Opinions are split, and the majority are moving in the wrong direction for my liking :)

I'll explain. We have been refining the fire rules, and I feel they are a nice addition to the game. No, they do not add tactics, but they do add atmosphere - fires are normally dealt with quickly, but if they get out of control, you get a real Severed Dreams/Churchill feel. . .

Tell you what. I'll see if all the rules for Fire can be taken out and plonked in the current rules set with the minimum of fuss - we'll write them up as an S&P article, and then you can all give them a thorough thrashing before we need to make the decision whether they should be official or not.

Deal?

fires were a serious problem for WW2 ships granted. but in the future with fire suppresion systems and the ultimate blow the hatches cure if need be they wouldnt be anywhere near as bad as on a ship back then.

You know, I can't get one thought out of my head - that it won't be that easy and that fire in space would be a terrifying thing.

Anyway, the current balance is that fires _are_ quite easy to deal with, but if they run out of control. . .

Unless you have a FireFly transport....

Yes, it is annoying. I think we've thoroughly established that fires can burn in space, and on ships in space, under the right conditions (not that it really matters, because this is scifi!)

But IMO the current crew + hull damage bonuses from crew crits are ample, since fires should be vented into space wherever possible (shown in the crew casualties from them being blown out with it). Or otherwise fought/extinguished for as long as damage control is operational.

fires already do the crew damage tho on the crew damage chart, this would represent actual damage from the fire and the captain blowing the vents or whatever to stop the fire spreading. its an evil starship captains and crew have o deal with, lose a few to save the ship.

I agree... Fires seem best as tied to the crit charts, and I don't know if there's any real value in adding a special system for it if it doesn't add anything. I could definitely see it in Victory at Sea, and maybe if it is shown to add something there, but at present I can't see the value.

Yes people have established that you can have fires in space.

Under special conditions.

Thats what Medical doctors, call, "dont forget it, it might happen, BUT bet on it? Someone must have lost his mind."

You've got a deal though on the S&P article

Would love to see that S&P article...

Pseudo playtester status...woo-hoo....

Seriously that would really be a good way to settle opinions one way or the other.
