'Firefly' returning to cable; Fillion says he'd play Mal again -- EXCLUSIVE

This sounds like they're going to just show the existing episodes, and then have Dr Michio Kaku - indeed, one of my science heroes - discuss the science in that episode. He'll have fun trying to describe the science behind River Tam and psionics ...

Yeah, that's pretty much what it souns like to me. Still vexcited about it, because I've been wanting to watch the series again.

I would love to see this turn it into something more for the series. I don't know what direction they'd take after the movie, but there's still a lot of promise.

Not sure you can do more with firefly now Serenity has been and gone.

Great background (familiar to most of us) in Firefly. But the transformation from small scale with hints to big mega-plot has kinda been done by he film. As a GM that normally calls time for me. Having said that after calling time on a Cyberpunk campaign, when 2020 cam out I did one last one, 20 years in the future with one character from the original campaign and tied of the loose ends. The second stab, although fun was limited though.

Firefly is on UK Freeview at the moment - CBS Horror channel I think it is thats its on. They repeat the whole series quite regularly.

Its only re-runs. No new episodes.

:)

Hence the question mark in the topic title

and that bit you quoted, I quoted from the article's title.

So, go tell the author of the article. ;)

it will be in HD though... and I also read that almost the entire cast would bring it back...

oh we can only dream!

Unfortunately the movie didn't do too well. Even though it was fairly low budget at $39 million the worldwide box office total of $38.8 million is slightly less than the film's $39 million budget, which does not include the promotion and advertising costs. With DVD sales they probably made a buck or two but folks in the entertainment business tend to like things that make them more money.

I bought it. It is terrible that they never finished the series, such brilliant characterisation and yet they can afford to have endless series of Homes Under The Hammer and other rot.

Firefly is on UK Freeview Channel 319 on Monday and for a few more days after that but I think there are only a few episodes left. But they will re-run it in a few weeks.

You miss the fact that homes under the hammer is aimed at Old people, and is shown at a time when almost no-one but old people and students watch tv... and students will watch anything...

Firefly was set up to fail from the start; screwing up with the order of episodes and constantly changing what time they were going to broadcast the episodes, not only did Fox not expect the series to work, they didn't want it to.

I also don't think a straight continuation of Firefly/Serenity would work, not after the events in the latter. And Fillion rather than Whedon at the helm would be a completely different ballgame. Even Whedon ... surely he's moved on by now. It wouldn't be the same.

But a spin-off ... that might work. It's a big 'Verse, and the surface ain't hardly been scratched up atall. It's still shiny. 8)

I could see a spin-off happening. BSG has managed, what, three now or something? ANd that one has less planets in it :D
(I must admit, I would love to see the pilgrimage from earth to the planets)

Anyway now that MWP have lost the RPG license for Firefly/Serenity (and BSG) anyone know if anybody else has grabbed it?

I would love it if a certain Swindon based outfit had it.
