FGMP, PGMP and CSC

Something is starting to bug me, and I would like to know if those of you with experience of other (non-MgT) versions of trav can help me.

In the core book the FGMP adn PGMP work off "a built in micro-fusion generator". Great. :D

Then csc comes along with a magazine for these weapons, and one with only 10 shots, so if you fire on full auto (and these weapons were made for full auto) you are reloading every turn.

Normally when there is a clash between the core rules and csc, or csc and common sense, I ignore the csc and put it down to bad understanding and bad proof reading. But that is harder to do with a weapons for which there is no current comparison.

What did previous versions of trav rule about ammo for FGMP and PGMP?

In Traveller New Era the data are:

Plasma Rifle-12: 5 shots
Plasma Rifle-13: 6 shots
Plasma Rifle-14: 6 shots
Fusion Rifle-14: 4 shots
Fusion Rifle-15: 4 shots

The number after the hyphen is the technology level of the weapon.

Those are all magazine operated versions though aren't they? Overall not much heavier than an autorifle or LMG for equal firepower. Never really did like that.

Backpack units should have more shots than that, but I've always seen the role of Plasma and Fusion guns more as anti-armour, like bazookas. So, large, unwieldy, and limited rounds. The bonus you get with the high tech angle is high tech armour penetration and one man instead of a squad to use it.

The high tech personal firearm is the laser imo.

The Traveller New Era plasma and fusion rifles have backpacks, but only
for the power supply, and require magazines with individual plasma cart-
ridges. The plasma bazooka is a separate weapon, available at TL 10, and
a single shot weapon.

I guess pick for the PgMP certification. That would be a better path in terms of long term goals and career.

OT. ^ yah, use that kind of book. seems like I'm using that one too.

There is a minor mistake in the mtg CSC table. The weapons listed, after the FG are other FG. In the table, they are listed as PG, which should be a mistake (or vica versa, don't have the book here). They all should be FG after the first FG listed.

This might not be entirely correct, use common sense when checking out.
