I know what is a geas but I thought that it was a kind of magic compelling limitation; if you break the geas, even if nobody knows it, you still die because it's deep in your soul. Something like a heart attack or a brain hemoragy or whatever.
Or perhaps you are so much conditioned to accept the geas that when you break one you unconsciously loose your self-assurance which endanger you much in a fight.
I think that's how a great Celt hero died (Cuchulain IIRC)

think it depends on the geases power a minor one can criple or maim but will be unlucky to die from it how ever a major geas is a life or death curse and only the truly blessed will live

These ones are easy geases excepted the last if you are in the desert as it is know that camel dung is a good source of fire.

I'd rather use mud.
Even women makes mud masks. It is good for regeneration they say. So next time we go fightin' please remember me to take some mud with me should I loss an arm.
