Errata & FAQ ?

Its ok - nobody panic.

Im here. :)

ALthough i thik the drug addled teens ref was a bit much, im afraid i have to back Darke up now.

Just before xmas i went and bought all the currently available books at a cost of over £120. I think that what i have is an excellent piece of work but the holes are,a s already mentioned, glaring. Im afraid that HAVING to buy the Companion when it comes out just so i can have a complete set of rules just isnt good enough.

This sort of glitch may work in the world of PC gaming but in books it doesnt. The Turs Andyr feat post was incredible - but now ive started my campaign there is no way in hell that my oly Minbari is going to be able to pick it up. It should have been in the book to begin with.

The Coming of Shadows book - who arranged the spelling test for that one. I know my posts can be a bit patchy on typos and such but then nobody is paying a lot of their hard earned dosh to post.

I dont want to flame anyone or be flamed. This is a genuine post about a genuine concern. B5 has had its knees cut off by Warner and the last thging we want is MGP to bugger it up with avoidable mistakes. If we want B5rpg to last then MGP need to pull their finger out and give the fans what tyhey want and what they paid for. Like i said great game but god help you if you bring out a 2nd Ed "completely revised and updated."

Just my tuppence.

:)

If you take a look round the forums this is not just a problem with B5 but is common to many of the more recent products they have released. Matthew and the rest of the mongoose team have already appologised for it and said in this and other places that they have more proof readers on staff now so hopefuly things are going to improve.

I don't want to get into a flame war over this but I for one don't see what the fuss is about. If you take a look at the books Wizards produce and the assorted material Games Workshop churn out they all have similar problems, and there about the biggest in the business. It seams to be in the nature of RPG/wargames companies to have these problems, I dont know why it is but they do.

and since the first time we have asked for said faq.... August has apologiesd many times for its lateness... maby not in this post but there have been many of the like... remember people August has had some health problems in the past thats pushed things back a bit... and remember B5 is also a Licenced product and i belive a Faq just like the products have to be approved before they can be given to us fans... so give them a little slack... and people think about how many games most companies give us that are total crap and the fact that atleast mongoose has a way for us to ask these questions and atleast they do look at them and post back to us on there own boards.. I know alot of companies even Wizards who have 1 or 2 people who are hired just to keep track of the boards and post whenever someone asks.. so give them a little slack they are trying there best... and the Thurs Ander Feat was posted as soon as the Minbari book came out so that isnt mongooses falt.. and yet again August did Apologise for that since it was an accidental Omission from the book..... just my opinion.. if it made any sence..

Yeah CARTMAG it made sense. Although the one thing I will say is that I'm happy that Mongoose does what it can to actually answer the people who have complaints even though they are very busy with all the stuff they got going on there. And as far as errors in the books or vague wordings and the like yeah it does happen pretty much everywhere but at least no company is as bad as Wizards of the Coast is, they make errors then release a new edition of the books to "fix it". Pretty crappy if you ask me.

Don't get me wrong.
I realy don't mind waiting for the FAQ or an errata PDF to come out. I was just stating that I would not need to have some fancy product released with the FAQ or errata.

I don't believe an errata would require aproval from WB. Since it's just a correction of errors. I can see the FAQ possibly needing aproval though :)

TY Stranger.... I was worried that I was rambling too much... and I completely agree mongoose does do what it can even with how much they have on there plates... in my opinion they are the best company in actualy answering our questions...

I think that's the reason some of us gripe so much some times. We have been shown that they actually care about answering our questions quickly, and their success has gone to our heads. So...we like to expect that it will be the same way with all our questions and needs. Even though we know that they can not answer all our questions right away, or even in the near future.

So let's put our best foot forward, then maybe we'll take it back, then I think we should put it forward again. And finally, we should shake it all about. Do the hokie pokie, and turn yourself around. That's what it's all about!

 Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Anyway, thanks for the answers you have given Mongoose (et al), and we'll TRY to patiently await the rest. Well, at least I will...

Thank you, guys. It's posters like you that make me actually come back to the firestorm these boards can be. :)

And thanks for the Hokey Pokey references. I can see Londo doing it, and it always makes me giggle.

"It makes... no sense... AT ALL!" :)

There are two other things I'd like to see in addition to Eratta:

1) a complete index in a text file that we could tailor for our own use,

and

2) A PDF or text file of the Signs & Portants B5 articals. I just don't see enough value to me to purchase S&P. What I have seen in S&P was quite well done and useable.
