Earth-Centauri War - Report!

For the most part, enjoyed the weekend, the only downside was having to face Centauri Admiral and Lord David with Ben's Gaim as my ally!
Don't get me wrong, I was glad that I wasn't on the opposing side to the Gaim fleet, but it was a little embarrasing to sit there and see the complete lack of excitement on the two Centauri players faces. Though my Minbari did add to the butcher's bill by ripping David's Primus and a Maximus apart, I genuinely felt for Richard (Centauri Admiral) when the Gaim squadrons started hammering his Liati's
Thanks to the Mongoose guys for putting together such an ambitious event (even though the bank robbed me of two credits). Also, thanks to Shane (Star-Lynx) for being the only alliance member to remember my flawless performance... 6 wins and no passes 8)

true, one damn tinashi left on turn 4 and it had been just spotted by a liati in range for all gun and backed up by a dargan, a drakh cruiser and 2 drakh light criusers when time was called :D

No probs Ken, I wanted six out of six for me too (after saturday gaming)
but if it wasn't for those pesky Drakh kids, I could have gotten away with it.

I only got 4 from 6, but I reckon with another turn or two I would have finished off the ISA and Victory, based on the fact that the Victory had such a silly number of weapon crits! Never reallly had a chance against the gaim because of the scenario :-(
but being fair and honest, without some re-inforcements at certain times, i may not have won the other games. swings and roundabouts

Having reinforcements join other battles was one of the most interesting parts of the weekend and the most enjoyable part of the Admiral's job was seeing which battles needed them and sending them.

I think standard re-inforcements were fun limited to 2 Battle points, the Admiral was a different matter, a full armageddon ship arriving anywhere is bound to spoil someones day, especially poor Foxmeisters!

Awww thanks Ken. I actually really enjoyed our game; but yes the game against the Gaim was a little bit of a downer . . . . but admirals orders for the good of the Republic.

As the week grows older I find I'm actually missing that weekend; a whole weekend of intensive ACTA gaming . . . whats not to miss.

I have since managed to convince myself that none of it actually happened now thanks to the application of large quantities of Cobra over the last few evenings - all is well in the world! :)

Regards,

Dave

Yes, it was a bit of a bum tightener  Literally 2 more minutes and my last Tinashi would have been little more than floating Minbari bits!
Your comments about time certainly seems to have been a viable reason as to the Centauri/Drakh's poor showing on the first day, I can certainly attest to the fact that, had the games lasted 30 minutes longer apiece, then I would definitely have lost the third one... However, if I had gotten another half an hour in my first encounter - a Supply Ship battle vs. Swiss Tony - then I probably would have cost the C/D side a couple more battle points...probably, I reckon, maybe etc...

I concur.

Well theres a doubles tournament coming up soon, I might be interested if they get the pack info out soon, but yet no sign :(.

If this touranment is going to be good has last weekends event, i'm up for it.

Perhaps, if everyone had nominated one of their Battle level ships from their initial 5pt fleet as their designated 'Admiral' ship, then placed a standard rules Admiral aboard... Or, if they chose a War level ship but the admiral only got one selection of traits instead of 3...

Paul and I may take a combined Vorlon / Shadows team

- try and kick us out of the galaxy will they - well we are back because it was dead boring out there past the rim and this time we are not leaving without a fight !!!

you mean another fight and another "good morning gentlemen this is your final wake up call."

My Drazi fleet was 4 Firehawks and 3 Stormfalcons (for simplicity sake) and DID suffer badly from lack of initiative sinks. I won 3 games, lost 2 (one of which I was bribed to loose, and yes it was Centauri Prime) and the last game I helped declare Earth independent.

The 8 ship limit was a killer. Firehawks were too fragile (lost 6 of them to 2 Falcons). Stormfalcons feel like they need to replace one of the secondary systems with a couple of AD of missiles.

These were my first games ever using Drazi (I've only been playing for a few months) and I feel I did quite well. Drazi is a fun fleet, but not a serious one. I kept on wanting to shout DAKKADAKKADAKKA!!! when I fired the solar cannons.
