Dredd- the need for maps!

Having a least an overview map of MegaCity 1 is a must. Where are the sectors in relation to each other?? Should every GM really have to make this up for himself? Even trying to work out a rough scheme for Sector 13 - the example scetor in the main rulebook - a map would really help. The description of the sector makes it clear that it includes Newark but then it says it's spilit from sector 14 on it's eastern border by the Delaware River (known as the Big Greasy). My US geography isn't great, but does the Delaware go through Newark or near? Isn't the Delaware to the West of Newark? Is the Big Greasy actually a completely different river? Come on Mongoose people give us some maps.... :?

Set it up, in laminated "paizo" style folding sheets. Sections of the city and you flip it over to use for Roads and Alleys and what not for adventures.

Or, you piece them all together in a giant 10 foot by 50 foot "puzzle" over view of all of Mega City One aerial shot.

Excellent thanks! Can't quite work out how that fits in with the Mongoose geography ( I think it puts Sector 13 in Virginia rather than New Jersey) but it's a good start!

Poetic licence is almost always taken in these situations - especially with the Dredd universe after 32 years of stories.

However...here's the reality today (Delaware in blue):

As we can see, the Delaware runs quite considerably to the west of Newark (and not very close to it at that).

Long Island (home of NYC) is known as "The Finger" in the Dredd universe. It sits in the Black Atlantic off MegEast (Sectors 21-108). The location of Newark today. Sector 13 is in MegCentral (Sectors 1-20), so I fail to see how it could include Newark (which to me is clearly in MegEast).

Sector 14 borders the eastern side of Sector 13 and is separated by the Delaware (seems reasonable to me), I just don't think it can/would include Newark.

I get the impression it's meant to given all the mob stuff and the frequent Sopranos references - plus it's supposed to be just across the water from NY. If you subsitute the Hudson or the other river that goes past Newark (the name escapes me) for the Delaware, which is nowhere near, then it works better. However cenral Megacity would seem to be centred around Washington rather than NY - which would make the maps linked above more likely...

Rivers move all the time, heh. Just look at what we've done now, (take the Chicago River for example), then, toss in some Sci Fi, and Atomic War, and all that fun stuff. Certainly poetic license, but still possible Aye?

And, said impression could be considered correct. It's easy to swap out a name if someone goes map crazy on you. So long as it's kept consistent.

Yes- it's all do-able by the GM but why should we have to? I mean Mongoose has as much acess to maps of the world as the rest of us and it makes it so much easier for us to be consistent as GM's if it's based on something solid - instead of a city with a river going through it that's no where near it... grumble grumble :?

So on this basis and the linked map Sector 13 should actually be Sector 43? 44 being old New York. That works for me. Thanks
