Dodging and parrying

Just to clarify, these are flat DM adjustments based on the skill being used and not an opposed roll with the effect being used as a negative DM? P

That's how I read it. CRB page 72:

A Traveller who is dodging will inflict a penalty equal to his DEX DM or Athletics (dexterity), whichever is higher, to his attacker’s attack roll.

And CRB page 73:

A Traveller in close combat may attempt to parry an opponent’s attack as a Reaction. In so doing, he will inflict his Melee skill as a negative DM to the attacker’s attack roll.

Dan.

That’s how we’ve been playing it too. The opposing rolls thread got me wondering if these were an active roll against being hit or not.

Only the attacker does a Task Check. This isn't like GURPS, where two characters do dice dances at each end of a hallway or crawlspace.
