dodge?

Lokai

Mongoose
is dodge rolled per hit thus having a chance to stop each die roll or is it rolled to simply disregard any die rolls from a given weapon system fired at it?

just curious cus the dodge trait refers to hits and refers to avoiding the effects of an attack and elsewhere in the book an attack is defined as all die from a given weapon system.

Dodge roll is done per AD that successfully hits the target.

Example

Primus fires Ion Cannons at a White Star, scoring 4 hits in total. The White star rolls a single dice for EACH of those hits, needing 4+ to negate the hit.

In practice, it goes quick. Primus player rolls all his attack dice, White star player rolls as many dodge dice as there are attack dice that managed to hit the white star.

This remind anyone of the beam questions we always got?

I'm really not slamming the poster...I'm just having a panic attack that the next edition of the rules will change the way dodge works because this question comes up so often.

"We simplified the beam rule and it works now, no one has to do math or figure out the target numbers its great. Why don't we do something similar for beam, as folks are just having an problem getting it."

Seriously not a slam of folks who ask the question. All games have a learning curve, and the wording of this game is still not great in many instances. I just don't want to see the mechanic change to cover what is really an issue of wording.

Maybe the next edition will be worded more clearly, so that this question and all the other "usuals" don't come up so often?

(Well we can always hope...)

(I'll get my coat...)

Keep an eye out for more dodgy wordings (no pun intended, honest  )

There do seem to be a few out there.

I would hope that MG would keep a record of all the questions. As there seem to be a lot of questions on the wording. It would help alot.

Just a thought-

I hope that there are a few more pages of print in the next edition's rulebook. Then, hopefully, common questions such as the one posed here would not be hard to look up as they are now.

My two cents.

Yeah unfortuatly unless they post a supplement We are with out all these clarifications for a while. I would reccomend mongoose put out a "supplemental rules book"
