I'm going to start this poll in order to acumulate support for a Tortage and/or Zamboula city box set or sourcebook.

I would really love to see such thing happen, both places are filled with adventure possibilites and there's a lot to write about them. And hopefully it would be Vincent to do the writing.

What do you think?

We keep on running into Tortage in our coastal based campaign. A boxed set highlighting the Barachan Islands and Tortage would be useful

Tortage would be just another pirate cities whereas Zambula is great because of the many cultures there and especially because Howard wrote more stuff on this city.

I would have to vote for both but Zamboula is the obvious priority in my opinion. Its a Howard original and a great location for endless adventures.

To follow up on my comment. I would much rather the products, whatever they are, simply be released as books rather than boxed sets, unless the set is of books only. I have no use for "play mats" and "counters" and I find it hard to believe that a great number of players do. Im not saying the "Shadizar" boxed set wasnt a quality product, it was - but I ended up spending extra for a cool box to keep some other modules in and the rest stuck in the back of the closet seeing how even the map was replaced. Kind of dissapointing.

I would rather they keep thier efforts toward the line of books personally.

I also agree. Also, Tortage has been been written about in both a Signs & Portents article as well as the Argos & Zingara sourcebook.

They're also VERY geographically separated (an island town in the Barachans vs. a city way out in the desert between Shem, Turan and Stygia). While Tortage is more anachronistic in design (pirate town), depending on what time in which Zamboula is written it's either recently taken by the Turanians (the Howard story "Shadows in Zamboula") or if written when Conan is king of Aquilonia (as most sourcebooks are written), then the khan is much older, and has either married the princess/zabibi, or one or the other has died, or he's dumped her, or whatever. (Sorry, at work and forgot their names, it happens to me with all personal nouns all the time  ). Not to mention Aram Baksh, & etc. killed off by Conan.

Anyways, as there's really relatively written about Zamboula I think this would be the preferred locale. I and I'm sure numerous other GMs wrote up our own designs for the city, in my case I did so to run the House of Aram Baksh but saved the temple for a recurring setting, in which I was so fascinated by the city & it's history I mapped out the whole thing. I've run across references to other GMs doing similar things.

Anyways, that's why I voted preference for Zamboula. :)

Both, definitively.
The two cities stand apart in the Hyborian World and make wonderful adventure locales, as well as a good base for adventurers mostly because of their cosmopolitan semi-independent background.
I'd rather see them as books instead of boxed sets, although I'd like to see a supporting adventure joined a bit like in ATTR (or in the boxed sets). I think the adventure in ATTR contributed a lot to make the book one the most popular of the Conan line.

I voted only for Zamboula, since there is so much wealth of potential story lines that eminate from there. In contrast Tortage is a pirate town; I can see a glorified Tito's Trading post, a shipmaker, and the three thousand bars and brothels but little else.
Zamboula is absolutely fascinating since it has the Stygian mystery, Turanian Imperialism, Shemitic Influence, Zuagir raiders, Iranistani carpet munchers, and the Darfari Menace rolled into one, not to mention the various Gods, sorceries, ruins, and political intrigue that such a place develops.
Zambooula is the melting pot of the Southern edge of the Thhurian Continent.
A boxed set could be made for this joint and still have plenty of growth left. Such as new spells (due to the cross pollinization of Stygian and Oriental Magic, stuff on the ape god Hanuman, Yog, the cannibal god, and the lotus trade. OK my fingers are sore, no more typing.
