Did Someone Say 'TL7 Tracked ATV'?

Charkowtschanka Mk.1

Let's give it some stats using the design rules given in the Vehicle Handbook from 2017.
But before we can do that we have to collect all information we can get for the original vehicle:

Tech Level(TL)
Build in the late 50s(1958) either TL 6 or TL 7 seems appropriate. Let's go with TL 7 as some kind of prototype or specialized vehicle.

Type
It is apparently a ground vehicle with tracks, so we can go either with the Light or Heavy Ground Vehicle chassis.

Size
It's size is given as:
Length: 8.5m
Height: 4.0m
Width: 3.5m

It is a very boxy shape, so let's go with a volume for an appropriate cuboid:
Volume: 8.5m * 4.0m * 3.5m = 119m^3
Let's divide that by 14m^3 to get dtons:
119m^3 / 14m^3 = 8.5 dtons

Knowing how fast spaces are used up, we have to start way bigger. Let's go with 50 spaces (25 dtons). This also means that we will have to go with the Heavy Ground Vehicle core chassis.

Speed
Speed: about 30 km/h
This puts it in the Very Slow speed band. We may be able to use the SPEED option here, to reduce the speed and get some spaces.

Range
Range: 1500 km
We may have to use the FUEL CAPACITY and/or FUEL EFFICIENCY option to increase the base range to this value.

Specialties/Equipment
a) Designed for extreme temperatures -> HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT + LIFE SUPPORT option
b) Common room -> BUNKS option
c) Galley -> GALLEY option
d) Rear Airlock -> AIRLOCK option
e) Radio Operator Room -> COMMUNICATION SYSTEM option + radio operator
f) Observation Dome for Navigation -> NAVIGATION SYSTEM option + navigator

Crew and passengers
The vehicle is designed to house 6 expedition members.
Crew: 1 driver
Passengers: 5(including 1 radio operator and 1 navigator)
This will require at least 6 spaces

Cargo
Cargo: up to 5t
That will require 20 spaces.

DESCRIPTION
Primarily designed as an expedition vehicle for extreme cold climate this vehicle can easily be reconfigered for other hostile environments. Its size and equipment offers accomadation for up to 6 people, which can opperate from and in this mobile base autonously for weeks. The big cargo hold is used for supplies and additional tools needed for the expedition as it can be used to haul back samples gathered by the crew. The vehicles features an observation dome for astronavigation next to the driver, a seperate room for the radio operator and an airlock to the rear.

Looks great! I'll use it in a few weeks when my players get to an arctic environment. They will love it.

Glad you like it, though I have to admit that I'm not totally happy with the design because I had to make it so much bigger to fit everything in.

As for the trait Tracked that was introduced in the Vehicle Handbook:
Tracked: The vehicle is equipped to handle extremely difficult terrain. This trait provides DM+4 to any Drive checks made to negotiate difficult terrain.

Well, the Mongoose rules call it 'Tracked Vehicle' generally, but as a former tank crewman let me say that there is a Hell of a lot of difference between a 70 tank and 6 ton bulldozer... Your mileage will almost certainly vary

Yes, the Heavy Ground Vehicle chassis was used for the stats published here.. Unfortunately this information is not shown in the finalized vehicle stats. All published vehicle share this "problem".
