Darkness Rising - new ships

Da Boss

Mongoose
Hi All some more of my ships (tell me if you are getting bored)

first a EA battlegroup with "ally" centered around the new EA flagship "Total Victory" followed by a Sharklis Class Battlecrusier - a blend of Minbari / Vorlon tech.

not painted yet (or more likely sprayed Black for EA)

have Fun - I Am! :D

These are nice...would love to see another angle on those. The Sharlin in particular could really use a side angle to show the mods.

really :? - hardly did anything to it? Just a few tendrils and some turrets!

sometimes less is more :)

i like the victory too.

I think some ships like the victory and the vorchan, are such good looking ships that they don't need much work to keep their look whilst being an obvious variant/alternate version

The Victory's gonna look awsome no matter what you do to it really though :p Personally I dont think it really looks much different from a normal one (tbh I dont think the spines really work that well on it, they look a bit small, sorry)

The Shadow Stars though I LOVE, they look awsome and the new Shadow Ship thing looks great too.

Love the Sharlin as well though your bottom fin looks a bit off (not sure if you intended that or not though for organicness :D)

Keep it up anyway, looking forward to seeing painted versions :D

Thanks for the additional views...

Strangely I don't like the Vickie...not your fault, I just don't like Vickies.

The shadow stars are just great, and the Sharlin looks really sweet. The side view really gave me a better feel for what you did with it. Any alteration of the stats? (or if its out there on the board I must exercise my search fu....where is the can of endust first thought...)

Not as sure on the Nova/Delphi. Like the general 'splayed gun' look on the Nova of course but need to really think what is the right amount of spiny. The Delphi (that is a delphi right...) only having the one forward threw me at first but has been steadily growing on me.

Thanks for kind words - stats - well loads when I get the pdf finished - but in the meantime - playing with:

Shakrlis Class Battlecruiser (Sharlin Evolution) /Armageddon
Speed 6, Hull 5, Craft: 6 Nial Fighters, Troops:3,
Damage: 60/ 8, Crew: 66/ 9, Turns 1x 90

Neutron Laser 30” F Arc, 8AD, Beam, Super AP, Precise, Double Damage,
Fusion Cannon 18” P/S/A, 12AD Mini-Beam, AP
A vision of the perfect blending of Minbari and Vorlon technology, a shimmering vessel of death that can match anything in the known galaxy. Nothing can stand before it and live, only the Ancient Shadow Ships can hope to match it in the conflicts to come.

Shadow Star /Raid
Speed 16, Hull 6, Craft: 1 Shadowbolt fighter, Troops:1,
Damage: 16/ 4, Crew: 20/ 5, Turns: 2x 90
Advanced Jump Point, Dodge 4+, Flight Computer, Hyperspace Mastery, Self Repair 2,
Molecular Slicer Beam 12” F arc, 3AD, Beam, Super AP, Precise,
Light Phasing Pulse Cannon 8” T 4AD, Antifighter, AP
A pack hunter for the 23rd Century and a new vision of spacecraft design, those who have seen it claim it can only come from the minds of the ancients. Its speed is now legendary and it bears a weapon able to disable any that seek to challenge it. With the ability to appear and disappear at will, few are aware of the how many of these lethal craft yet exist.

Nova Class Superior Dreadnought / Battle
Speed 6, Hull 6, Craft: 2 Shadowbolt fighters, Troops:1,
Damage: 56/ 14, Crew: 68/ 18, Turns 1x 45,
Advanced Jump Point, Command +1, Interceptors 2, Self Repair 1D6,
Phasing Pulse Cannon Battery12” F 6AD AP, Double Damage, TL
Phasing Pulse Cannon Battery12” P 8AD AP, Double Damage, TL
Phasing Pulse Cannon Battery12” S 8AD AP, Double Damage, TL
Phasing Pulse Cannon Battery 12” A 6AD AP, Double Damage, TL
A test bed for the new technology that is transforming the battle fleet of the Earth Alliance into one of the most powerful in the galaxy. The new Nova boasts brutal weapon batteries that are derived from Shadow technology. Short ranged it may be, but if it reaches any enemy battle line – it will transform the enemy ships very quickly into shattered wreckage. Unlike the newer EA ships it still uses conventional jump technology but with enhanced capabilities from the older model.

Delphi Pathfinder / Raid
Speed 10, Hull 5, Craft: 2 Dark Fury fighters,
Troops: 1, Damage: 18/ 5, Crew: 22/ 6, Turns 1x 90,
Advanced Jump Point, Hyperspace Mastery, Interceptors 1, Scout, Stealth 5+,
Phasing Pulse Cannon 10”, F arc, 10AD, Double Damage, AP
Light Phasing Pulse Cannon 8” T 10AD, Antifighter, AP
As stealthy as anything the Alliance has faced thus far, the Delphi is tasked with marking targets and where required, leading strike squadrons into the heart of enemy territory. An unpopular posting with fighter pilots given their primary responsibility of close escort and the cramped conditions on board. Initial problems have arisen with long term exposure to the new technology and shielding has been increased around the sealed hyperspace navigation control room.

Total Victory, Titan Class, Flagship of the Earth Alliance, / Armageddon
Speed 6, Hull 6, Craft: 4 Dark Fury fighters, 2 Shadowbolt fighters Troops: 4, Damage: 110/ 18, Crew: 125/ 25, Turns 1x 45,
Advanced Jump Point, Carrier 3, Command +3, Flight Computer, Hyperspace Mastery, Interceptors 6, Self Repair 1d6, Unique,
Molecular Slicer Beam 24” F arc, 8AD, Beam, Super AP, Precise, Triple Damage,
Thermonuclear Missile Battery 30” B arc, 6AD, Triple Damage, SAP, Precise, Slow Loading,
Phasing Pulse Cannon 10”, F/P/S/A arc, 10AD, Double Damage, AP,
Light Phasing Pulse Cannon 8” T 10AD, Antifighter, AP
The newflagship of the Earth Alliance is a showcase of the advanced technology enhancing the fleet and an outstanding weapons platform. Designed to be able to engage any enemy at all ranges – including targeting their home worlds, the elite crew aim to live up to their ships name.

Shadow Star at Hull 6 is flatly incorrect. I realize that you've given up DD on the Molecular Pulsar, but you've gained 3 dice at Single Damage for 1 Die of Triple Damage which is in no way a wash, espeically with the Precise Trait. You've also gained the T arc for the Pulse Cannon instead of having to settle with FA. A couple of Damage and Crew for Hyperspace Mastery is OK, and roughly doubling the hits in exchange for losing Adaptive is alright as well, but the extra speed and hull point come from absolutely nowhere. 2" of speed might not be a big deal --- but one point of Hull is huge, and, to my sight, unjustified....

The Delphi is BUSTED. Take a look at its front firepower, and, if you remove the Disruption Torpedo from the Targrath .... what's the major difference between these two? Not much. And you get Stealth 5+, Scout, Hyperspace Mastery, 1 90 turn, Interceptors, in exchange? Yes, it's smaller than a Targrath, but 5+ for stealth And Scout And Interceptors And Aux Craft? No way.

Agree with CZ on the hull 6 aspect of the shadowstar. I have been hesitant to comment as I have not had the time to do a proper analysis of the ships, but they do look damn cool. Wondered a bit on the Sharlin variant that it did not have more aft side guns and fewer front given the model you eventually came up with.

My thoughts was it seems to have the smaller tentacles so was expecting more of the smaller vorlon beams, especially in a all round configuration. The forward lightning cannon seems to be missing the heavier bits to shoot it. I am assuming you picture the three primary fins being the weapon housing? If so might it not have the Vickie's issues (always pictured the problems with the vickie being based on missing a limb...=)...).

Eh...a vorlon anti-fighter field maybe too....yes that's the greed talking....your own fighters would pop as they launched...

Hmm good points the both of you - heres hoping you get to do some of that 2nd tier testing :)

May well play more with the stats - the Sharlin was going to have big tenticles but couldn't find any that worked so went with the little ones (parts from GW Dryads) - would make more sense with more all round volron weapons.

Without taking more of your time - what was your thoughts on the Nova and Total Victory ?
:?:
lastly re the Delphi - I have two done and they have tendrils at opposite side which may make more sense?

Have fun - I Am!

Nova looks OK, but would need to test it and poke around more to give a true oppinion.

The VCD actually at first glance looks like it could actually be slightly weak. Youve effectively HALVED its hit points from the normal version (by removing adaptive armour) and decreased its overall firepower AND slowed it down. Hyperspace mastery is nice but not THAT amazing and simply put a regular VCD would eat this ship for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now whether that makes this ship weak for an armageddon choice or not is a matter of oppinion as the regular VCD is, to my mind, easily the best Armageddon ship in the game. (and yes I know youve given it self repair but that wont help with crew and will be of limited use for crits too)

Delphi might be a bit too good but Id not go so far as to say its outright busted. Comparing it to the Targrath: it doesnt have the disruption torpedoes, sure they may not be the real teeth but theyre sure as hell not insignifigant! The Tagrath has more bolter firpower too, not much but its still more AND the Delphi here doesnt get masters of destruction. Scout I think is a fair enough pay off for the difference in firepower and I wouldnt actually raise too many eyebbrows if that were the case what with the weaker hull but with it having stealth 6 and increased maneuverability.... no.

Shadowstar, put it back to hull 5 and fair enough in my book :)

The Delphi still would have the infinite-range scout power, right? That's just huge.

The Nova variant actually looks very very good on just the stat line. I think it compares reasonably to the Lakara, which, in some ways, it's a dead ringer for. The Lakara gets the beam system along with all the quads, whereas you get AP on the close-range stuff (the DD for more dice kinda washes out). You get Command+1 and AJP, and a couple of craft in exchange for the balance.

Well, it actually might be weak. Given that this thing will engage in short range, I'd suggest:

-- Something to soak a few interceptors. I have no idea what to use, though. Perhaps you should just use odd numbers (what a radical idea!) and add 1 die all around.

-- Add another trooper. I know Shadow-style ships have few troops, but put on at least one more. You're close range; it'd be sad to see this thing loose to freakin' breaching pods.

Delphi does not get infinate Scout - I had thought about that and HEL track but decided against one these EA ships. its stealth 5 not 6........re turns - hmm may have copied wrong version - 2 45 is fine with me.

Victory - hmm I agree the Victory is awesome - I may make the Nukes normal loading - thought about giving it +1 vs Stealth (from tendril probes) as the Fleet is designed to fight Minbari and Vorlons.

Looks like Hull 5 for Shadow Star! :)

Nova - again the inteceptors is not something EA worry about too much given their main enemy- which may be an error, however 1 AD will not change it too much so cool................take your point about breeching pods and troops - and makes snese as is a old style ship with new tech.

Appreciate your time ! :D

After all this I might just redo the ships for 2nd ed for the background as it is nearly here............

Have fun I am!
