Conversions

NOw, I understand that in friendly games this is fine as long as you mate is happy for you to use a conversion, but what about in tournies, such as the one recently at mongoose towers (is it towers???)

Can you use a conversion? or does it have to be a current sculpt?

Do you mean in the Context, that your mate has a G'Vrahn (a model no released). But its something he has scratch built, to use in a game?

Doubt that anyone would disallow their use as long as it was obvious what they represented and weren't using different stats for the model than was in the rulebooks. Mongoose tournaments allow card counters and AOG full-size and Fleet action miniatures at present.

Well, the mani reason is that I am in the mood for converting a nova dreadnought for some raiders but will be might piffed off if you can't use it in touries if Mongoose end up releasing one.

Allso, what about if you add to an existing model? like adding the strut to the new Brakiri dreadnought thing.

I think as long as you get agfreement from your oponent (and unless they are a complete tool they should say yes) then you are fine, if you stick a bin tak on the table and say THIS IS A G'VRAHN! you should have no problems.... unless you then stick down a bintak as a bintak and confuse someone

That's a proxy, Hiff, not a conversion...

Converted models should be fine in 100% of games. Tournaments would need to be cleared by the organiser, but it'd be a rare organiser that said no.

I think conversions are fun. I've put extra gun turrets on a few of my ships.

Basically if the model looks within the Ethos (hope thats in the context of the sentence) of the race, and its different from the other models. That should be fine, I'd draw the like at someone with a Drakh Mothership, saying it was a Ka'Bin'Tak. But if you want to convert a model, go for it. I made a Narn Listen post, comprised of 3 T'Loth wings.

One of my old AOG Hyperions had it's main turrets replaced with Artemis turrets to represent the Railgun variant. Sadly MIA now, like the rest of my old AOG stuff.

I'd echo what the others have said so far.

In addition with specific regard to the Raiders Nova Dreadnought - the very principle of the ship is a cobbled together ship from other hulks. It's just crying out to have a conversion representing it! (consider these generic stats covering any large cobbled together Raider ship)

Be quite nice to have some more versions of Iconic ships as Raiders perhaps - I figure after the Narn - Centarui war and the Shadow War there are quite a few wrecks hanging about in the galaxy to be salvaged..............

Well, with the Nova Dreadnought, I'm thinking of making three or four, all different as they are assembled from different ships.

Thats what I'm a little worried about, I will be using four different models to represent the same ship class. Personally, I don't see a problem, but I thought I would ask.
