[CONAN] Thoughts on starting Fate Points

I'm just thinking out loud here: I was thinking that if Fate Points had to be tied to any stat, it would be CHA. Your force of personality altering your Fate.

Then, I started thinking, what if....

What if each character started with 3 Fate Points modified by CHA modifier?

The non-combat classes (like Scholar and Temptress, who have the lowest Hit Die, besides Commoners, plus are the worst in combat and usually easiest to kill) would certainly start the game with more Fate Points because of their high CHA scores.

This would also make CHA that much more attractive to the combat classes. If you put a low score that give you a penalty, then you start the game with less Fate Points (maybe a minimum of 1?).

As I said, I'm just daydreaming here.

What do you think of this?

It is a nice thought to have the fate points modified by a stat and it's nice to make charisma attractive to the martial classes. However, it might be over powered. A character with 16 in charisma would start with 6 fate points.

Is 6 Fate Points in this highly deadly game really too much? Too overpowered?

The GM controls how fast Fate Points are returned. And 6 Fate Points just might make a 1st level character viable to play.

I think S4's logic is impeccable (no I'm not his paid supporter/ wife/ or girlfriend, but I do agree with him a lot).
Mooks and faceless cannon fodder die in droves.
Charisma is special. There are different rules in life for charismatic people: they get better jobs, hotter girlfriends, and are the leaders of the pack.

Hitler had a lot of charisma and survived numerous coups and assination attempts.

I think it would be appropriate.

Charismatic heroes should not die as easily as the deformed ugly thief.
