Other Observations; The pricing seems to be heavily skewed against swords, especially when you measure their effectiveness against any of the polearms. Weapons in general seem to have some possibile imbalances. No Spiked Chain?

Borderers are VERY lame when measured against Barbarians now receiving additional benefits, and 3.5 rangers.

Fighters get Perform as a class skill? That's just funny to imagine.

The misspellings reek of rookies in the editing department.

Given the armor class / damage reduction changes, in what situation would a flat-footed score be anything different than a 10? Am I forgetting or missing something here? Or is it now an unnecessary stat?

Power Attack and Toughness Feats just got more appealing given the high possibility for frequent TPK. Love Fate points.

Armor DR reduced by 1d4 on any hit of 20 or more points? Won't armor become completely inconsequential at higher levels, even in low magic setting? Wondering how that one will turn out.

Skeptical but still excited.

The text gives a player a +2 bonus to Reputation for having a Code of Honour but the table gives +1. Which is correct?

The text for the feat Wheel of Death has different prereq than the table.

There are several references to a thing called a parry roll yet nothing is given how how to make such a roll. originally posted by Murte

While I don't have the book yet, I'd suggest you look at the way Defense works in d20 in general. Coming from the SW d20 background, there is an optional rule to "roll" your defense in melee fights (in particular with lightsabers). anyway, the Defense of a character has a base 10 in d20. why? because that's assuming you're defending yourself on average most of the time. I'd suggest to Roll your Parry as

roll 1d20+ add all modifiers to parry. Thus, if your normal Parry Defense is 15, any time someone attacks you, you would have a variable Parry Defense of 5 or 25, depending on how well you rolll.

again, just a suggestion in logic in terms to this question. and for people who complain about Mongoose spelling errors, i'd suggest you remember we're dealing with mustelids without opposable thumbs. how those ferrets and weasels even can type or use a computer is beyond me, since most mustelids i've seen want nothing more than to chew on toilet paper and "chip" at strangers. I'm amazed we're getting Conan out of such crazy critters. Also, the fact they're in Albion means they get first dibs on creating English. :)

Ravager -- the rules do not call for d20 rolls to determine your base Parry nor is it suggested.

I'm baffled by the Parry Roll reference as well (I find 2 in the Manuvers section -- Hooking Parry & Sundering Parry) and would like some clarification.

I think the refs may have been left in there from earlier version using rolls.

Will Mongoose be releasing corrections and errata?

Warsword is finessable in two hands when being used as a martial weapon. It's situational in being used as a finesse weapon rather than an always on option.

Parry roll was an old reference - parry is static (if you wanted to include the roll, then you can allow players to make a 1d20 roll for parrying or dodging instead of acting on the base 10, all other modifiers apply.

Dodging without an open space nearby to facilitate movement from blows imposes a -2 penalty, the example is wrong.

The weapons included are those that feature in Conan stories - Spiked Chain's deliberately not there. You might also note that weapons statistics differ from 'classic' d20 fantasy.

Hyrkanian archery: Yes, as the text says they are better at long range shots than short range shots.

Armor becomes even more important at higher levels.

Swords are deliberately more expensive - it costs more to forge a sword than to make an axe head.

Whither the Rogue?

From "Combat Reflexes" on pg. 113...
Special: The Combat Reflexes feat does not allow a rogue to use her opportunist ability more than once per round.
Or the "opportunist" ability for that matter?

Were you originally intending to include Rogues as a PC class? If so, was it to be separate from the Thief, or did the Thief supplant it?

Soldiers should get Perform as a class skill. Soldiers have to parade around and perform all sorts of drills and rituals as part of their training. They have to march a certain way, stand a certain way, etc. All of that is Performance.

but that's rather a stretch of the imagination -- so it's Perform(Marching)?

I honestly see no issue with any class having Perform as a skill -- much the same as Craft & Profession, it lets players flesh out their characters in interesting ways.

============================================

OK, I noticed in the Combat Chapter, Movement Section (sorry, no pg no but my book is at home) there's mention of Barbarians having +10' movement when wearing no armor, yet under the Barbarian section there's no mention of this at all.

What's correct? I hope that Barb's don't get the extra movement -- they're quite nasty as it is already and if you want a fast Barb then there's a feat for that!

They don't have the +10 and if they want it they can take the feat for it.

This is more errata than anything:

Decipher Script mentions granting a synergy bonus to the Use Magic Device skill, which does not seem to exist in the Conan RPG.

Turanians are not differentiated from Hyrkanians in the RACE chapter. Turanians should have favored classes of Noble or Soldier, not Nomad. Hyrkanian religion is not mentioned at all, but isn't their god The Everlasting Sky/Four Winds? Their shamans offer Spells, not faith/atonement as Turanian religion does.

Knowledge (arcana) is listed as granting a synergy bonus to Spellcraft, which is not a skill in Conan.

Have a question regarding skills.

The footnotes on Table 4-3, page 84 says for Class Skills "...and you gain 2 ranks in this skill at 1st level, then 1/2 rank in this skill each level thereafter, always before spending any of your own skill points."

So, does this mean that if I have a Soldier who has never put skill ranks in Knowledge (geography), a Class skill, that at 10th level, he would have 6.5 ranks in that skill? (2 at 1st level, plus 1/2 for 2nd-10th level)

Table 3-1 lists Tlazitlan as a Stygian variant race, yet the Stygian entry (page 34-35) holds no information on it.

Hyrkanian/Turanian religion official errata (cut/pasted from another thread)

Requirements of Worship: Pay a tithe worth 1 sp/level/month.
Benefits of Worship: Atonement, Faith
Requirements for Ordained Priesthood: Knowledge (religion) 6 ranks.
Benefits of Ordained Priesthood: Standard plus as follows: sorcery teaching available (Divinations and Nature magic only).
Typical Punishments for Disloyal Priests: Cast out of the temple.

The "Entrance" spell (Sorcery, p. 209) initially says "Creatures with 5 or more HD are unaffected", but later in the description says "This spell can only affect a creature with 16 or less hit dice". Now which is it? 5 HD or 16?
