Awesome thread! I have spent two hours going through all of this and I am still not done. Great stuff!
time to upgrade from dial-up mate. :D

I haven't had dial up for over 12 years! I am actually going to all the links too. TONS of stuff!

That's what I figured - so much good stuff that it'll take time, not only to get through but to just enjoy.

And pretty much most of the illustrations in 'Eclipse Phase'.

As much as I like many of the illustrations in Eclipse Phase and Cthulhutech...many of them are not Traveller save in its Cthulhiod Stars line... Traveller is best illustrated as Hard SF with a dash of Space Opera and slivers of cyberpunk, pulp for good measure with an eye always toward critical realism.

Much of Eclipse Phase and Cybertech represent dreamscapes where things are more suggested rather than portrayed as they actually might be.

This is definitely an inspirational thread, it's the best art collection on the web. :D I take a lot of artwork from here for concept illustration, signatures and stuff. So thanks for putting it up!

I thought I'd post some of my own artwork;

Cool.

You know, creating a top-quality (and I mean TOP-QUALITY) 3D model relies on using very sophisticated lighting rather than complexity of design. A starship of a simple shape and flat texturing can look truly professional if you use realistic lighting models. That's my advice.

I always say that for 3D, quality is 25% modeling, 25% texturing, and 50% lighting. My examples were bright on purpose so that the models could be seen. I've done scenes with them where "outerspace" lighting has much more contrast.
