Clockwork & Chivalry for RQII

...and please feel free to make any suggestions re: things you would like covered in future articles, etc. Also, as ever, I will try (although I can't promise) to answer any setting queries you might have, so fire away.

I did a podcast with the lovely Byron and Liz from Rho Pi Gamma. For anyone wanting to hear me talking gaming, chatting about cheese and spouting other nonsense, the podcast can be accessed here -

I've been working my way through the C&C corebook, and I think that it is superb. It's the first 'new' setting in years that I've wanted to use for my own games. 8)

I'm especially intrigued by the forthcoming 'Quintessence' module, which is based on the views of space travel of 17th century Dr John Wilkins.

The book is also well edited (in contrast to most MRQII books produced by Mongoose). If only Cubicle 7 were producing everything for RQ!

@Akrasia - many thanks - really pleased you like it :D

We have just had the second volume of the Kingdom and Commonwealth Campaign, Thou Shalt Not Suffer, reviewed here -

None too shabby :D

Hi Folks,

Quick Update -

No Man's Land, the third installment in the Kingdom and Commonwealth Campaign has gone off to our publishers, Cubicle 7.

Not Clockwork & Chivalry related but, we hope you agree, also liable to be full of awesomeness - here is a teaser for another Cakebread & Walton project:

http://thebookofworlds.blogspot.com/2010/10/airship-pirates-by-cakebread-walton.html

...and ne'er fret. The Clockwork & Chivalry setting is going to continue to be very well supported - with Quintessence, Hobbes:Leviathan and London Calling, the remainder of the Kingdom & Commonwealth campaign adventures all due for release in 2011, alongside other planned supplements for the series, there will be no shortage of seventeenth century mayhem :D

Hey guys, are there blackpowder weapon rules in the Arms and Equipment book for RQII? Just asking, because there is only a limited amount of info about this subject in the C&C sourcebook. Maybe with special fumble tables etc.

I got RQ pirates, but as it is for the previous edition, I don't know how usable the the weapons stats etc. are for RQII.

Because the weapon tables and some of the weapon descriptions in Arms & Equipment were messed up, Mongoose have put up all the corrected weapons tables (including blackpowder weapons) here:
http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/rq2aandeerrata.pdf

No, no special fumble tables, and it's very much flintlock focused; given that matchlocks and wheellocks were more common, it's probably not entirely what you'd be after. Luckily for you, I'm just finishing off a large article for C&C detailing the many personal weapons of Europe at the time, including wheellocks and more matchlocks and flintlocks.

Colin

Ok, thanks Colin. But call me a wooden eye, but try as I might, I can't see gun stats in the pdf?

Is the A&E book worth buying, considering this large errata, and is there a revised/corrected version available? I guess not?

Oops, my mistake, the blackpowder weapons weren't in the errata, sorry.
There isn't a corrected printing as far as I know.

Hey, so I am not going crazy afterall! (Well, more crazy than usual anyways).

Thanks again for the information, I guess an order for A&E might be in order.

For those of an artistic bent there is currently a competition running on our website -

Hi Folks,

Exciting news - this month’s Clockwork & Chivalry article in Signs & Portents is by veteran RPG writer Colin Chapman (All Flesh Must Be Eaten, A/State, Atlantis, Atomic Highway, Faery's Tale Deluxe, Godlike, Hellas, Hollow Earth Expedition, Iron Kingdoms, No Quarter, Omni System, Talislanta, Unhallowed Metropolis, Waste World, Wild Talents, etc) of Radioactive Ape Designs. It adds two new professions, Highwayman and Ruffian, to the Clockwork & Chivalry setting. Look out for further articles by Colin in future issues of Signs & Portents, when he’ll be taking an extensive look at seventeenth century armour and weapons.
