Chaosium Basic Roleplaying

Mongoose
Chaosium Basic Role Playing is finally available!
I just got my copy this morning and it looks great. The book is 400 pages fat and looks very complete, including revised rules from all old Chaosium games. Similar but simpler than Mongoose Runequest, the book allows to play in any setting.

This might be a nice choice for those who wish something other than D20 for Hyborian Roleplaying.

extremely interesting - how much is it?

I have various editions of their games - usually use a hybrid of them for my Stormbringer games - I prefer it to RQ (I don't feel I need the HL, fatigue etc)

The book is priced at $39.95, 400 pages, softback, B&W.
It contains many optional rules from different Chaosium games (Sanity, Allegiance, Fatigue, Hit Locations, Edu…). You’re free to use them or not.
Here’s the table of Contents:

1. INTRODUCTION
2. CHARACTERS
3. POWERS
-Magic
-Mutations
-Psychic Abilities
-Sorcery
-Super Powers
5. SYSTEM
6. COMBAT
7. SPOT RULES
8. EQUIPMENT
9. GAMEMASTERING
10. SETTINGS
11. CREATURES
12. APPENDICES
-Index
-Character Sheets & Tables

All the best from Chaosium revised and compiled in one book. Don’t miss it!

That's really cool! I've only played CoC from Chaosium, but I love the system. Are all of their games based on the same style? If so, I'm already at the local comic & game store to pick up a copy!

Most Chaosium games use the BRP (with the exception of Pendragon and Prince Vailant).

Does it have the Pendragon system as an alternative, too? (i.e. using only d20 and d6)
It doesn't seem so, though I didn't read everything yet.

I liked the Stormbringer/Elric random armor point system.
Yes, the armor roll was a good alternative to the hit location system.

The stats for rolled armor is included in the BRP book as an optional rule.

The BRP book is a massive volume which includes various BRP rules used in prior systems into one book, either as the core offering or as optional rules. It's primary advantage for long time BRP players is gather all the information into one book. For new players it's a great big book of BRP goodness that presents the versatility of BRP.

I've long thought that BRP (which I consider MRQ to be a variation of) would be a great system for Conan. I'm still hoping that Mongoose will eventually decide to come out with a MRQ (or even Traveller) version of Conan because I have stopped buying d20 books just for fluff and I would like to continue buying Conan material (not meant as a dis to d20 fans, I just don't like the system).

Hmm, I saw this in what passes for my FLGS these days, i didn't guiive it much thought but mayhap I should revisit it for a 2nd look.
