Central Supply Catalogue vs Core Rule Book

I have been having fun looking through the Central Supply Catalogue PDF I picked up this week. I did notice a few of the items that are in both the Central Supply Catalogue and the Core Rule Book do not have the same price or information or specs. Given the two do not match, which should I assume is the correct one?

I was thinking maybe the Central Supply Catalogue as it was the latest released, but then I was thinking the Core Rule Book because it is the source all players and GMs would have. But I admit I would be curious to know what the assumption is normally.

I would follow the CSC. The core book was finalised before CSC (and High Guard, the vehicles book, etc) so the later books still had some tweaks made to them. Therefore, I think the newer books are a more definitive source.

Both books are, for the moment, pretty much finalised. If some pretty new tech comes along which requires a change to the equipment lists, then the changes would be centralised in the CSC, and spread outwards from the CSC to other sourcebooks.

The Traveller 2e core rulebook equipment list is supposed to be based on the CSC. If they need to make one more change to the core rulebook, it would be to reflect changes in the CSC, and not the other way around. Equipment lists would have to be synched with the CSC, rather than the CSC be synched to the core books.

Thanks Alex. So for the items that are already out of synch now, we go with the CSC. Thus the CSC makes a couple of items in the core rule book void. Shame they all weren't in synch to begin with in the playtest stage. :(

To be honest the changes in CSC, compared with the Core Book are all good.

Here is a list of the top of my head:

- cost of skill implant is now 150k (was 50k), limited to 3 (in corebook limit was one)
- Plasma rifle now does 1DD instead of 6D (it's because, for TL 16, it was underpowered)
- Security software Difficulty to penetrate increased with 1 step. i.e. 14 was the strongest before, now it's 16.

Just to be clear, I am not saying the changes are bad. Changes happen. That is the way of a living breathing rule set. :D
