Well are Shadow Ships really so manouverable, or are they using their phasing in & out to achieve SM? ;)

And no, the shadows do not shoot out of their rear arc in the show, that is the front!

So they just fly backwards then ?

We do see them fly "backwards" in a couple of scenes. I wondered what was going on, to be honest. The rest of the time, as far as I recall, we see them fly with the pointy end forwards. Which end is the "front" is up to the Shadows, I guess...

shadow whips fly in a variety of directions in the show, because they don't use conventional engines, probably some kind of gravitic propulsion.

They do fly facing both directions.

It always seemed to me that they fly with the spines opposite the direction of movement when trying to go fast. They have the spines pointing in the same direction as movement when moving more slowly.

Although they do fly pretty fast with the spines "forwards" at Gorash 7 when they are attacked with energy mines.

in a sexual or movement sense?

I would say it goes all ways.
look at how the one on Mars took off, it didn't angle itself upwards, it just flew upwards, helicopter styleeee!

there seems to be a lot of grey area with the shadows as one does not one to make them to powerful but game balanced. Its the grey area that those playtesters need to pick and choose those things that they perceive as important to the nature of the Shadows to represent that in the game. I am hoping for the best and looking forward to some news about something about them in 2e
