Bridge tonnage discrepancy

It isn't the price being high (I'm fine with that).

The price sequence 45, (+15) 60, (+15) 75, (+5) 80, (+15) 95, (+25) 120, (+10) 130

Correct sequence (IMO of course) 45, (+15) 60, (+15) 75, (+15) 90, (+15) 105, (+15) 120, (+15) 135

It just seems clear to me that it was SUPPOSED to be +15 MCr/TL Just as the core count goes up 10/TL uniformly. No reason why it should be 5, 25 and 10 at one TL each.

I had a go at creating a universal algorithm for computer performance, over cost, over technological level.

Needless to say, it didn't work out.

However, I made the presumption that each technological level had a sweetspot, and moving from there for better performance, made the computer rather expensive, increasingly so.

Giving up performance made it cheaper.

Um... are people missing that the OP is comparing the original 2016 2e High Guard with the 2024 CRB? (notice the hex overlay?)

The current 2022 Update High Guard matches the current CRB.

As far as Sensors go, HG 2e22 doesn't even repeat the table and refers you back to CRB for that.

I saw that, but there is still a discrepancy for 100-ton ship bridges between Core 24 and HG 22. Snapshotted by me today.

Fair. High Guard makes more sense because of the traditional 99 ton limit on Small Craft, and is the later publication, so it's likely to be the one to use. Like the Trade Code criteria in CRB for Fluid Ocean and Water Worlds vs the ones in World Builders Handbook.

Do remember that the Core Rulebook got a light upgrade in 24 (and is now the more recent publication) and this was one of the changes they made. It will end up in High Guard with this next update, I'm sure.

Perhaps asking someone who actually works at Mongoose if an update is in the works, might be better than guessing what may or may not happen. So far the only update I can see, in the Release Schedule, is the Vehicle Book update, which I doubt would contain ship data. Further, I just plopped down £100 to get into Mongoose Traveller recently and am not looking to spend another £100 just to get books with a few new tweaks. I am happy with what I have now, I just made the post to ask the official stance on the difference. Luckily Matt was kind enough to clear it up.

We know that a minor update for HG and CRB are in the works, and that the author is aware of the situation. He verified this line item (6 ton bridges for 100 ton ships) is on his list.

Fair enough, is it possible to post a link to this update? Or perhaps mention the thread this is posted in? Cheers.

Doesn’t the 6 ton bridge invalidates the small bridge option. Plus it changes the vast number of ship designs already in the game, 100dt is the most common ship tonnage. All of a sudden scout courier, seekers, and dozen other ships have 4 extra tons of space this also means their deck plans are invalid, others that ran small bridges have that option invalidated. How many ships throughout the whole game line does this change, how many in adventure ship, how many in traders and gunships let alone all the other books. How does this effects things like Hiver command centers does this mean that 51-100dt is 16 and 101-200 is 25, that is what this change suggests and that a 9 ton difference. I really don’t think this change was well thought out because it effects far more than it first appears to. If you want to keep it my suggestion would be that none jump drive ships of 51-100dt have 6ton base bridges while jump ships start with a 10dt bridge at 100dt. That would vastly mitigate the effects of this change otherwise it’s a soft reset for dozens of ships.

It would give them a chance to check the ships and fix the other errors that are present in the builds, so I’m in favor of keeping it. Especially since it’s now in the book. ;)

I’d also like to point out that even the ships in this 2024 core rule book do not follow this rule change both the scout courier and the seeker have 10 ton bridges listed
