BFE: Suppression, before or after removal of models.

I was always under the assumption that suppression took place after removal of models in a unit. This makes sense to me as it would fit well with moral.

Example: A unit of 6 models are fired on by a Tech. Assume the models do not have saves. Tech fires after creating a FZ that catches 4 models in it. Rolls are 1,6,6. Two dice are allocated to the 4 models it can see. 2 enemy models were removed from the fire. Leaving 4 models with 4 dice (counts as double for suppression). SUPPRESSED.

Is that correct?

Hrm...I could see the argument either way. The rules do say that suppression occurs if the unit recieves at least as many damage dice as it has models. Since the removal of casualties is considered a part of the shoot action, Old Soldier's interpretation could be valid.

Thanks, I know now that is not the case. But, I still think it is a much better way of playing the system. Along with NOT counting com whips giving LOS to vehicles, and NOT having to take a Move action followed by another ready action, just to have a readied fireteams MG fire in a different facing (another ready action should be enough). Not to mention ALLOWING a PKG to fire while loaded, but NOT allowing any mounted models other than riflemen from firing (that means NO snipers and RPGs).

I would say suppression should be allocated before casualties are removed. I would imagine that the unit would hit the floor 1st and take cover (suppressed), before trying to work out who had been hit and if they had been wounded / killed.

I see the arguement for removing casualties 1st, but feel this would make shooting at infantry even more deadly that it is already... and its deadly enough.
