Triggy: Basically, if you've played a few games with the most recent version of the rules and feel comfortable with them then go for it.
As i said i am new to not just ACTA but wargaming as a whole. I've only had the revised rule set since march and haven't played many games with them. Previous to that I played a few of games using the starter set rulebook. I have only played against myself but feel fairly comfortable with the rules in general. I do make some beginners mistakes thou.
For example I played my first vassal against myself this weekend (5pt rain narn vs EA) but made silly errors which included moving both starfuries and thunderbolts starfury distances on the first turn, forgetting to fire some fighter weapons a few times, forgetting to use the interceptors on the omega alot and not using the scout trait of the sho'kar during the whole game despite that being the reason I picked it

I think (and hope) part of that is having to think about 2 fleets at once
Ok Vassal has ship stats in properties when you right click of the counter so I've gone by them in the game i played. I have look also at the shipviewers from the players resources thread but not compared them (I assume the ones on vassal are current stats).Triggy: If you are aware of the updated rules (e.g. to Stealth and Fighters) and have access to the ship stats then you'd still be welcome
Stealth: I have seen talk on this forum about being within 4inches (i think it was) either reduces or gets ride of the trait
Fighters: is that to do with fighters have to be touching the enemy fighter counter to gain +1 to dogfight not just the friendly that instigate its, is that the one? please feel free to correct me.
My main concern is that everyone being ok with having a beginner in the mix
p.s. saw the boresight option in the counters menu but how does it work with the fixed 45 and 90 degree turns in vassal? or did i miss something
