Best build for a God Learner Sorceror?

Generally I like to play the same character in a Living campaign (I know others like to have lots of Alts but I don’t like to get confused over which character learnt what in past modules, so if I play the same character its less of an issue- he knows what I remember) so I’m now thinking I should do a character that could conceivably fit into all the factions. Would a fairly agnostic wandering Issaries traderman be a reasonable fit? He trades between both the draconised and traditional Orlanthi as he follows the road, seeking to make a fair deal with all he meets, with gifts and a ready tale, he’s welcome at many a hearth in Dragon Pass and beyond. Why he’ll even trade with God Learners and spin them a yarn or two when they ask for stories of the Old time…. Certainly their gold is good and that’s the main thing.

That sounds like an excellent idea!

Not all scenarios will be tilted towards one faction or another: it just so happens that the first three are, and that was a deliberate approach to help get new people familiar with how the dynamics of the three major factions in Glorantha work. So no, you don't need to have a series of alt characters although some people might have such a preference. But an Issaries trader is generally welcome through most cultures so I think your idea is a good one.

"Welcome to the GameCon. I'm Phil, I'll be running the Open Glorantha game for you. How many of you have characters prepared? All of you? Well, that's great. You are playing... an Issaries trader, great. Nice idea. Next? An Issaries trader, eh? And another? Er, did any of you bring any alternatives? No? Well, sure, of course you thought it was a great idea that could fit into any party. So we have 4 Issaries traders. Great."

Actually put a little spin on it, lampoon an episode of The Apprentice, and that could be a great deal of fun... :D

Consider that idea nicked.

How else do you think the High Priest of Issaries chooses his successor?

"You're Fired!"

Course, now everyone else is being an Issaries Trader, then I'm going to have to be a covetous God-Learner Sorceror who pretends to be an Issaries Trader so he can steal their myths and spy on the EWF!

How about a bunch of Openhandest dwarfs trying to negotiate with the leaders of one of the major empires, offering up Mostali technology in return for protection from both their fundamentalist kin and the other major empire who would seek to enslave them.

"Welcome to the Dragon(friend)'s Den"

(You can have that one for free)
