Beginning of my new Ship Weapons rules

To cut down on the sheer number of weapons I've come up with this formula:

Turret = 1 hard point
Bay (50 ton) = 10 hard points
Bay (100 ton) = 20 hard points

Still working on Spinal mount required allocation from Hard Points. Any thoughts on what that should be?

Why not leave it the same, 1 per 100 tons of spinal mount size? Particle accelerator spinal mounts would therefore require between 30 and 50 hardpoints, and meson spinal mounts between 50 and 140.

Maybe you're right. I'll look at some quick test hull/weapon combo's.

If you want to do it properly scrap hard points altogether.

Give a turret a hull surface area footprint and an internal volume requirement.

Do the same for bay weapons and the same for spinals.

Bays and spinals may end up taking up a considerable internal volume but a rather smaller hull surface area footprint than you think.

By basing it on hull surface area you can drastically reduce the number of turret weapons the big ships carry.

Naw, too complex for not enough return. I'll just go with hard points as structural based limitations. Hard points ALREADY have internal volume requirements as do Bays, et al.. ;) (you cannot add external volume requirements)

I'm not dropping those.

Leaving it the same as MGT rules. You're correct, no need to change that part.

Thanks.
