Why haven't the secrets of Borish (?) tech been stolen yet? I mean, in all these years, not a single piece of Dwarfen tech has been smuggled out & recreated (made available, etc) by anyone? Or has it happened already?

It has, the RPG says that the cannons have been copied by the Shadakine for example, and the game books have many examples of enemies using Bor weaponry.

Thing is, though, is that one cannot assume normal human reactions from dwarfs, a dwarf traitor is not betraying just a country, but his species, so knowledge on making them would have to be deduced by reverse engineering them - probably hard to do if you are not at the borese level of technology to begin with.

We, at the Black Cat Breweries & Co (run by the Kai Order), are making the finest Bor Brew in Magnamund. It's not recreating the taste of original Bor Brew: it's having a better taste than the original Bor Brew. And we didn't stole the Dwarf technology: they sold it to us for a few gold crowns. 8)

When the Cenerese plague decimated the Drodarin races the dwarfs of Bor became very security conscious. Non dwarfs attempting to enter the kingdom or Bor are shot on sight (and occassionaly detained and persuaded just leave (often right after they've witnessed another foreigner's attempt)).

A few non dwarfs are allowed in but they tend to have very good connections.

The reason the dwarfs refuse to give away their secrets is (according to the LWd20 stuff) because they hold it secret to honour the work done by all their predecessors who worked on it that perished to the plague. I suspect that they also have a pretty good idea what would happen if the other nations of Magnamund discovered the secret of boompowder (and that soon there'd be a bunch of Herbalish campaigning for neuclear dissarmament).

I was wondering about this because I think it's a bit silly to have some feat, other than racial (read biological) stuff, for Bor dwarfs only (If I'm correct in recalling some of the LWD20's feats).

...Of course, unless the GM says it's because of MM's magickall nature... Hmm...

If I understand what you are saying, you are wondering why Dwarfs get a non racial feat, that no one else can get. This is simple, they are the only ones with the knowledge - although if you read the Warrior class in the LWRPG (one of the "other" classes) at one level they get the ability to take an ability that belongs to another class, so you could take proficiency in firearms if you wanted - and have him proficient in Bor Weaponry.

Also, you should remember that this is a game, and as a part of the game only dwarfs (actually, only Dwarfs from Bor - it is not racial as much as a cultural ability) can become gunners
