BAN Ancients from the ID Gaming War Tourney

You've run the stats for a Triumviron's weapons, but have you run the stats for how much damage will be done to it in return? A Triumviron is weaker than one Victory, so how long would it last against (for example) a Victory, 3x WSC-2 and 6x WS? Or 5x Vorlon Light Cruiser? Or 5 Shadow Hunters? Or.... etc. I think it's far from an easy fight.

It ganks VCD's, look at the stats. I also rolled a few bones too. On average I was getting about 25 hits or 30 after CAF. A victory hit by that, result is going to be skeleton and cripples, with 10 crits to finish it off.

Thanks Locutus, I think you see the point I was trying to make.

Reaverman, my comments if you read were nothing to do with the PL War it was my comments on the statement they are broken.

Please also bear in mind that there is the Vorlon Heavy Cruiser now that is a ship that should be Ancient level and I dont see you complaining about any one using them in a tourny?

30 hits, is 90 damage, halved by AA is 45. Thats only half way to being crippled. Maybe the 10 crits can get it the rest of the way there, but I wouldn't count on it. Then the VCD fires its lightning cannon.

cos a Vorlen fleet can be taken, and I've lost with a Vorlon fleet to Centauri. BTW the Vorlon HC has 1/3 the weapon output at the same range as the Tri

The point I am making, is that the Ancients are not balanced to any degree. Tell me of any race that ignores Stealth, apart form ancients. Don you think thats an imediate disdvantage to Minbari?

aye of all the uber big ships I'd worry far more about Vorlons than Ancients and Frankly I still think most 5 Point War fleets would eat Vorlons for breakfast....

I beg your pardon....yes halved....and who in the right mind fires his Lightning cannon, next turn he's ganked. Oh, thats if he has any weapons to fire, I am sure there is going to be at least one weapon crit!

Someone who is going to be ganked next turn anyway?

Vorlon: 2xHC and 1xLC have total of 22AD B/P/SAP/TD plus 20AD AP/B/DD/P
Triumviron: 22AD B/P/SAP/TD when fired all at one target, 18AD if split

Vorlons have more. Maybe they should be banned, not the Ancients.

Whats that got to do with the price of fish? Vorlons 2xHC+1xLC have a higher damage output than the Triumviron, no matter who the target is.

Actually most of the Ancients are either good or slightly underpowered except for one......the Lordship!

Most people seem to miss just how tough this ship is - over 200 points of adaptive armoured butt at hull 6 with 2d6 self-repair. It's weapons are the second best too so I can't see it losing to any fleet in the game really. As soon as it starts causing damage to the enemy, it'll have time to self-repair and never die.

However, it's only slightly more broken than the Prefect and Tertius

Funny you should mention that, Burger is taking the Lordship to the tourney!

You are so right there Triggy in the game on Saturday the Lordship took everything I threw at it and it kept going took me 3 turns to take it out and that was with 2/3 of my fleet.

He may not be the only one if my sources are correct...
(I'm unfortunately not able to make it)

A kick up and i aint involved. Oh well...

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!
You can only join in if you are coming to the tourney with your new Drakh Armageddon level ship.

Oh wait.............

The Kirishiac Lordship (with it's apparently playtester's-in-joke Hyper Grabiton Blaster) has secondaries with a lot of interesting traits, but very few dice, and only one real killing tool. Wolfpack it with light assault ships and it'll come apart, just like everything else.

The last thing you want to do to the ancients is compete with them on their own ground. Ship for ship or with a small number of ships, they do outmatch you. Ten to one, attack them with a fleet nothing higher than Raid level in it, and you stand a much better than even chance.

On Battle-6, I popped the Dark Knife for a Raid and two Patrol ships, with a lucky crit run. The Lordship died in the second fire phase of it's game to the same cause, for the loss of one Raider. Thoughtforce was more complicated, and I took two Raid and two Skirmish losses bringing that one down.
The attack force was the same each time; six Jashakar, four Omelos, eight Targrath. With the dark Knife and Lordship, same cause of death- a wapons crit from the 32- dice torpedo salvo that left it out for the next round, an advantage promptly rammed home to the hilt.
Traveller and Triumviron, I haven't done (in) yet- they promise to be a lot bloodier. But swarms are the way to go.

Remember; never say die, just say BANZAI!!!!

(excuse me a moment while I vent my excess blood sugar level...)
