Babylon 5 2nd Ed still under production?

That is sad news. I'm actually sort of surprised about the Traveller B5 announcement then as that will just peter out the line I imagine. RPGs don't tend to last without some new material to stimulate them - even with the Star Wars or Star Trek line that are so well known.

The Star Wars line of products from West End Games was influential enough to be included as canon when the Timothy Zahn books were commissioned to take the story forward. He was apparently handed a load of the sourcebooks and material when asked to write the books.

It'd be nice if some of the Babylon 5 range were to be considered, especially when work has been done to flesh out little known races like the Pakmara (and hopefully the Gaim?).

JMS has pretty much ruled everything but the series out of canon, excepting several novels and his own short stories. He has even excluded the comics he co-wrote.

B5 has a slightly strange set up where Warner Brothers is the licence holder but JMS is the creator and the two don't always see eye to eye and licencees can wind up between a rock and a hard place.

Okay, JMS has gone to the Rim of Angry Writers and kick off B5, but...

It will close ALL the Babylon 5 Related Stuff? No more books? No more guides?

I hope not

No, we still have the licence to produce official B5 RPG books (speaking of which, once we bring in our new Layout Guy, the bottleneck in production of B5 books will be freed up, so expect LG Gaim to be released relatively soon).

What it knocks on the head is other 'cool stuff' such as encyclopaedias, novels, comics, Lost Tales, etc.

That's good news, I'm looking forward to the Gaim book.
I don't suppose you'd consider putting Thirdspace and Starports up as PDFs on DriveThruRPG in the meantime? ;)

You may have wanted to publish Babylon 5 novels and encyclopedias at one time, but I'm pretty sure you never had anything to do with the "Lost Tales."

Hi!

Yes, I'm talking about all and any publisher (Monggose, Ballantine, DelRey, etc...) and any kind of book (RPG, Novel, guide and so on)

Hell, I have the three magna cum opus trilogies (Technomages, Psi Corp and Legions of Fire) and a great number of the short hitories (Hidden Agendas and Nautillus Coil were great), and frankly, I could kill for any other material (Dunno, about the Rangers, the Post-Crusade timeline, even our favorite Technomage of all the times)...

It is a sad thing, yeah... So many histories sent from craddle to grave without anyone knowing about them ... Sad...

Lorien said "Hope is the only thing we have" ... Well, in this case, their argument toppled and fall :(

Picked up Gaim at Mongoose on Saturday.

It was the dusk of the third age of B5 roleplaying, years after the Babylon Project. The RPG was a dream given form. Its goal: to prevent another war by creating a place where GMs and PCs could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call, home away from home for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers. GMs and PCs wrapped in two million, five hundred thousand tons of bound pages, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous game, but it's our last best hope for fun. This is the story of the last of the D20 B5 RPG books. The year is 2009. The name of the book is Lurker's Guide to Gaim.

Then my work here is done, I can pass beyond the Rim content.

400th post! Hah!, barely qualifies you for the League of Non-Aligned Posters, never mind the Babylon Forum Advisory Council

Is this still current information? Will Mongoose continue to produce B5 RPG stuff, including for Traveller? I ask, because there is only 3 months left for ACTA.

TT.

No. Mongoose have decidede not to renew the B5 licence.

The Lurkers Guide to Gaim came out in the last couple of weeks. Deconstrucion of Falling Stars was released as a pdf, which included three novels.

The B5 Traveller book is due out imminently.

The B5/Traveller ship book is scheduled to be published. As is The Trouble with Drazi and Powers & Principlaities for ACTA.

These last publications will only be available for the shortest time! To be on sale for only a few months. I hope Mongoose sells enough to make printing them profitable.
