Awful B5 Models

Possible but it doesnt change the fact that the ship was named after the colony and spelled as such :P

And besides what pray IS a Rowan Oak? Theyre two different trees. Nonetheless this is getting WAY off topic even by this forums standards :P

The Nova is a lovely model. If youve got a badly cast or bent one then thats a shame and poor quality control but thats not to say the mini itself is bad!

On both my Omegas the entire front end is squashed inwards.

Mine had some damage in the front end. I ended up smoothing it out with Green Stuff which covered some detail, but made it look better overall.

I bought an octurion and half of the slots were filled with metal. After 3 hours of pinning, green stuffing and swearing it looked really good! Never again.

The Octurion is probably the worst culprit of them all with this problem. Every other ship is more reliably cast than this one!

Quality also depends on how old/used the mold is. a while back hte ISA victory destroyer was unavailable for a month or 2 while they retooled hte mold. moldes cast from hte mold jsut before the period were *apparently* atrocious, with thick flash. I got mine a few months after it came back and the detail was extremely crisp, nad there was no flash at all.

I get the feeling that most of the Babylon 5 molds have run thier coarse and need to be retooled. THat and lackluster quality control.

I have to say the same with the Octurion - the customer service was excellent - but I still on receiving a replacement work to do on it - drilling a hole and filling off metal so it will fit together. This does put me off buying more, what are excellent looking ships - if a bit big in a number of cases

Have you seen a Bin'Tak? the prongs were pointing in totally different directions, if they had been any more out, they would have formed a cross :P

Not sure if I got mine before or after the mould changes but mine was more or less fine, needed a bit of green stuffing to get the wings to fit nicely but wasnt too bad. My Posseidon was worse but again no worse than Ive had from many different companies.

From what I've read here, either alot of you are WAY fussier about things than me or (more likely) I've been pretty lucky so far :D

Quality is definitely on the flaky side. My Sharlins were all pretty good but I had to practically carve my Tinashis out of lumps of flash. :? The EA set is similar. It is a pity that the Omegas (one of the most iconic ships from the show) are amongst the oldest and poorest casts. They also look a bit small compared to the other ships in the EA fleet.

Still considering that a decent fleet can be had for around £100 I don't mind so much. Mongoose fits into my mental category of "cheap and cheerful". The quality may not be up to GW standards for example but then you would be very hard pressed to get a complete army for GW for £100.

I am quite interested to hear that some of the models are being redone and I am really looking forward to seeing them. Any idea if the Tinashi is getting a revamp? I have 3 of the blighters still waiting assembly but if there are new versions coming I might just use them as paperweights.

Hate to say it but I have the old AoG minis, and the nova and Omega are the same scale and mine look GREAT!!! Did Mongoose acquire liscencing the the old AoG stuff, and the molds are getting old?

Your correct. And some of the molds are showing there age. However there are plans for re-doing these old moulds :)
