Army Builder

Hello all.

Has anyone tried using army builder for their campaigns?

I cant work out how to change minions that survive long enough to become heroes to hero status on army builder. Also I cant add equipment beyonbd the point s value each character is initially allowed.

Anyone have any ideas or can point me in the direction of an alternative system to use to manage forces.

Cheers all

Hi there

I write the Army Builder files for JDMG

to change a Minion to a Hero:

1. Click on Upgrades (under the Minion's name)
2. In the options pane it will show "Upgrade to Hero" (and "Upgrade to PsiHero" if the Minion can be)
3. That will then flag up the talents and stats to be incremented etc

You can get Army Builder from here:

http://www.wolflair.com/index.php?context=army_builder

Once you have it installed then when you go to the updates section then you will be able to download the JDMG file from inside AB

thanks

Thanks for doing the files, its really appreciated.

Just a few things that I found on the Army Builder Files.

I cant seem to buy equipment for my grand Warlock above and beyond what he is allowed at the start of a campaign. I cant spend more on equipment then his initial Starting credits regardless of how many games I play.

There does not seem to be a way of having the effects of a Medic removing injuries from people. For example someone takes a wound that reduces 2 stats and the medic ability allows you to ignore one of those. I.e. Crippled Arm reduces Agility by 1 and Melee Dice by 1. You could use the Medic skill to ignore the -1 to agility but at the moment the Army Builder doesn't allow it.

With Demonic Cabal there isn't a way of upgrading a minion to a hero after they survive 5 games. In fact there is no way of recording how many games they have played at all.

In the PSI talents when you select Telekinetic as a path, the tree opens up at the top of the list above Pre-Cog.

You cant add Cybernetics to Judges at the moment, well certainly not to Brit-Cit judges which is what I am using.

There is no where to record Credit or Territories for campaign play. Hopefully this can be added in the future.

When you select Psi skills it does not associate them to a character when you print the roster off.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe these are things that you plan to add in the future, either way Army Builder is a great tool for this type of game and I really do appreciate all your work.

Cheers mate

I've been trying to get some clarity on this one - the common response seems to be that you can't spend over the equipment credit limit on a hero at the start (unless it is something specific on the Warlock I've missed??

The only way I have this set at the moment is to manually reduce the injury, i.e. you take an arm wound, use Medic then remove this from the Hero, it is set up that you can buy cvbernetics which will reduce the injury - I'll add the Medic skill to the list of things to add though (I am going through the talents at the moment to implement those which have a global effect)

I'll add these to the list of fixes to be done

Campaign territories are on the list of things to add :)

cheers - the Judge Dredd stuff is complex to code but fun in an odd way! :)

You cannot spend above the hero's listed credit allowance, either when creating your initial force or later in the campaign. The only way to get more equipment for a hero is to give him the Wealthy talent.

A few more things I noticed with the Army Builder

In regards to the Lone Vigilante

To upgrade to a level 2 Hero costs 50 points, the army builder does it for 25.
To upgrade to a level 3 hero costs 100 points, the army builder does it for 50

A Sidekick is a separate Lone Vigilante at a cost of 125 points, the army builder allows you to add Sidekicks for 95 points (and they have the exact same stats as the Vigilante... Bargain)

As the Sidekick is also a lone Vigilante you are able to increase their level and give them Psi abilities, currently the Sidekick on Army Builder does not allow this.

The Army Builder allows you to put Rifle Scopes on pistols.

Your allowed to increase a statistic to 3 above its starting point, the army builder only allows you to increase it by two points.

Once again, I am sure I am not alone when I say we really do appreciate you doing this. I would not have a clue where to start with doing this.

Thanks for the info - I've just put out a Bolt Action release and next is planned a JD bug fix release, after that it will be adding some more features to the file as well

cheers

I can't recreate this one sorry - what stat was it and which model? I have put something in though to try and catch this one to max out at 3

I've checked the Brit-cit Judges: the bionics only show when you have selected an injury

When you select Psi skills it does not associate them to a character when you print the roster off.

I can't recreate this one either - what was the character and what had you selected?
