Are we big enough?

Is the player base for ACTA:Star Fleet large enough to warrant a TRUE forum?

One with news, tourney info, racial sections, tactics sections so on and so forth?

Can there never be too many gaming outlets on line for your hobby?

...or do you guys think what we have here is enough?

deadshane, as Nerroth pointed out over on ADB's BBS we have the following topics set up:

ACTASF: Expansion Rules Requests
ACTASF: New ship requests for empires in the game
General Discussion
Call Out Notes [These are tactics papers that are published in Captain's Log and which earn you promotion points and tactics pins on The Wall of Honor]
After Action Reports
ACTASF: Q&A
Fixing the Gorns

There are also topics for the Starline 2500 minis. The main thing is that we require people to use their real names as we think people tend to be a bit more polite that way. :) I've seen some folks wander over from this forum and you'd be welcome, too.

Oh for sure...I've been there...posted some articles as well.

I was just thinking if we needed a forum more along the lines of DAKKADAKKA, Warseer, or Heresy-Online. One that seperates topics a bit better than this one in particular.

Spaces to talk about tactics, another for fleet building, you get the idea.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I hate that antiquated BBS. Does it predate computers :!:

It think it is about as old as Star Fleet Battles is! :D

That said, there is more ACTA activity on it than on the FC forums.

Steve Cole has said repeatedly that while the software isn't pretty, it does exactly what he wants it to do, and apparently no other forum software does.

Actually he first SFB Forums were on Compserve if you could believe it. And it was a bare entering all those clay sandscript tablets in to that system. =p

I don't know that they were ever on CompuServe, but I do remember the old days when we were all on GEnie.

Back to the OP. There isn't a real reason need separate the forums.

All that need be done is to enforce basic forum etiquette and make people preface subjects. If the thread is about Noble Armada you start the subject line with [NA]. If Star Fleet, [SF].

You can even be more specific as in [SF:KLING].

This simple courtesy will make it easy to sort through the forum.
