Are personal & close combat ranges rather moot?

Hi gang,

Since characters can move 6 meters a turn for a minor action, and still make an attack for their significant action in the same turn, are the weapon ranges for melee and natural attacks really all that necessary since both ranges are within 6 meters?

The only potential, one moment in combat, situation I can see this being a range factor is if one party is closing the gap but can only end their turn at close range instead of personal.

Not having looked at this in depth - but characters don't have to move during a round - i.e. there is crouching/diving for cover and other actions - have you looked at it from that standpoint?

(I'm sure there was a significant portion of the playtesting revolving around combat - so I suspect there are some very compelling reasons these are the way they are...)

No there wasn't, or it wouldn't be the ramshackle affair that it is...

They are a hold over from CT, and the aborted attempt to build a better system...
