any info on new ships?

Lokai

Mongoose
there any new ships coming down the pipline? specifically new variants not necessarily new models...in particular wondering about the vorlons/shadow as they are rather bland in selection, not to say they don't look like tough nuts to crack.

There is a supplement planned for next year. It will have a few new ships and a couple of new races. There may be a Vorlon ship in it.

Would really like to see some of the old AoG variants for the ancients make it to the game. They had a dreadnaught, carriers and a scout for the Vorlons...as well as two levels of destroyer.

I also liked the Vorlon cargo transport I saw online somewhere. Basically a pregnant looking transport, with a globe shaped back end instead of the slim version. Even the Vorlons have to move stuff right?

Mongoose should get its house in order before making more ships. Their distribution, at least to the states, is a joke - I've been waiting 8 weeks for my last order. We also haven't seen all the Armageddon ships yet. We don't need new races if they can't deliver the old.

you should try in the UK then.

Vorlon Carrier maybe?

Stranger things have happened but I wouldnt get your hopes up, every Vorlon player has been clamouring for a carrier for ages and been met with 'Nope we're not making one' for the last 3 or 4 supplements/releases...

I know there will be Space Stations in the book to replace the ones in the rule book
I don't see what was wrong with the Space Stations from SFOS. I might suggest to my gaming group that we continue to use the orbital assets from that book as the ones in the 2E rulebook are rather bland.

Anyone know why Space stations were dropped from the 2E fleet lists? The EA at least had models available, even if other races did not (yet).

I agree that Mongoose should definitely fix whatever their distribution/production whoas are before releasing any more 'new' models. However, additional variants or 'kit bashes variants', using existing models shouldn't be affected by the production issues.

Exactly - distribution and design are totally unrelated and designing new ships will have no effect on getting hold of the ships already "released" but as of yet unavailable.

you would like to think that, but with new designs comes more demand, comes more annoyed customers. Mongoose should stop, take a month or two off from new releases, and get it's house in order, ALL staff, whats the point of anyone spending time on a new products when they can't deal with old ones. either that, or thay need to employ someone to deal with distribution and supply and be up front with people about whats going on. I am sure somewhere there is a production manager, but he/she really seems to need a hand!

I must wholeheartedly agree with the above postings.

I was informed that my Brakiri order (made in mid-October) will not arrive till sometime in December at the earliest.

Wow. A simple $250 order of existing ships will come in either at the end of the year or in 2008. (!!!) WTF?

There must be a simpler, quicker and more accessible means for Mongoose to deliver merchandise for one of their premier product lines. As it stands now, whatever their business sense is, it ain't working.

But how does the scupltor have any affect on the production of ships he's already sculpted?

How about the stat writer? Do you expect him to run down to the airport and grab a flight to the US and put time in spinning mini's?

I agree that they should stop promising new models until the old ones are in stock. But new lines for old models would keep the staff that works in that field busy, keep those of us not waiting on new models interested and keep the new product (a 'variants and bases book' say) rolling to preserve shelf frontage and exposure.

Just saying don't mistake the roles of folks in the company. The guy in charge of keeping the shelves full of mini's is not likely the guy in charge of developing the next supplement.

um, ok, as i said previously, that seems not to have been understood, STOP them sculpting, I am sure said person can do more than one thing, and get EVERYONE sorting out the problems. It's amazing how easy it is to do a different job that might involve packing from the distribution centre, dealing with incoming orders, and mailing suppliers, even I could do that, thought it has no relevance to my existing job.
Why have someone sculpting when at this rate the company is going to alienate a lot of customers. "look guys, I've sculped you a new gahimba cruiser, guys? hello, ah, all our customers have buggered off cos they couldn't get the existing models.. . . "

You don't employ a miniature sculptor on a (presumably) high wage and then have him/her do packing monkey work. Whatever difficulties there are at MGP's production facility or distribution centre, it's not going to be solved by sending unqualified people there to deal with it.
