Anti-Fighter - when?

Anbar

Mongoose
RUles says:

Ships with the anti-fighter trait automatically roll against any fighters within 2" at the end of the movement Phase"

Does that mean that they can shoot at fighters after the end of the main (big ships) movement phase.... OR

You move the big ships, then you move the fighters and THEN the big ships get to use their anti-fighter weaponry?

we've played it both ways and it seems to work either way.... so... :?:

Ii the latter case fighters tend not to do much damage as they get wasted fairly easily (by fleets with half-decent anti-fighters anyway).
In the former case it seems a bit odd that the fighters are hanging around waiting to be shot whilst these bigs ships go lumbering around....and only after this do they move off.

Your esteemed opponent must have missed the rules on page 28, with the big heading Movement Phase where it describes the movement of fighters.

Since this occurs in the Movement Phase...and Anti-Fighter doesn't happen until "the end of the Movement Phase" it's kind of hard to interpret it any other way.

Good hunting!

In his Defence the game-aid sheet lists the order of game events as

Movement
Fighters

So it is easy to read movement as ending before 'fighters' starts.
