Aliens War

Mongoose
I would really like to see an Aliens war game that focuses on evacuating a planet that has gotten overrun by aliens. Main game play would be focused on deploying your marines on the outside of city area then moving in and finding and collecting as many colonist as one can and trying to destroy the aliens

Also wanted to post a picture of my Aliens conversion of space-Hulk I did that me and my Sis sometimes play :)

Let me know what you guys think of the bits. The marines and aliens gaming bits are fan art from planetAVP. But the blips and turn counter I made myself in Photoshop.

I’m right now working on rules of my own for outside large-scale combat using the paper models from the alien’s colony paper model site for the APC and dropship models and colony buildings

even if you guys did not make rules for a game and box it to sell if you guys made gaming figures for people they would sell like hot cakes if you could get the rights from fox to make them. your models for the starship troopers game are A++++

Just remove them from the Clix bases, put them on large 'slottas' or Coins (2 pence?) and make some new rules up.
They are nice minis at least.

I don't see why this one couldn't be a special scenario for Starship Troopers. No, you wouldn't have "Aliens-aliens", but Arachnids aren't a horrible substitute, and there's the benefits of a) already having the license and b) already having the figures.

Horrorclix do AvP. No marines yet though.

And there won't be any marines. They got the movie rights for the movie AVP alone, and apparently no marines appear in that movie. I haven't seen it myself, but I have two sets of Aliens and one set of Predators for HorrorClix anyway :).

I know it could be done with starship troopers but I'm a figure collector and love painting and I would really like it if some high quality plastic marine and alien gaming models where available to play with in my table top gaming.

in the early 90's when the first metal marines where made figure makers had rely on mail order and the ability to market and adertise them and get sales, most of this had to be done by catalog so you had the expense of printing and out putting out of catalogs to try and get peoples attention. but with the onslot of the internet and web site that has all has changed. I was talking with a friend of mine that works at GW and he says just about all of Games workshop sales are from its web store.

If Mariens and plastic aliens box sets where done now they would sell as fast as you could make them becouse there alot of gamers out there and even none gamers would love to colect them. so even if getting the getting the license from fox to make marines and aliens figures might cost money. If you made them to the high quality like your Starship troopers gameing figures you would be the only makers that where making gaming figures for the aliens world. And sales would be good. Hell I would buy 40 boxes of aliens drones :D

Or here is an idea if fans could raise enough money to donate for Moongoose to get the license would you guys make the gaming figures?

I have the basic rules for
BF-EVO : INCURSION

Its xcom, man Vs aliens from space etc, i have the stats for all the xcom races, and i will had a species section, which means when you play you just pick the enemy you wish to fight against, like floating brains or green blobs etc..
Aliens and preds i have also done some stats somewhere, and using my Evo-skirmish rules toy can do one to one fights...

I will work on them over the weeks to come and post...

Watch the skies

Anyone know what times the head decision makers drop by the forum? Would really like to hear if they would be interested or not and if they could find out from Fox what the cost would be to get the license I’m sure one way or another money could be raised by fans that really wanted some good quality Aliens and marines Table top warfare figs.

My paper colony I have built from the paper aliens colony site :D

.

Wow nice stuff!

Do you have a url to the company that made/sells the PDFs?
Is it worldworks games?

Bob

just downloaded the files for these, they seem to be abit small, how big are they really when there printed and built and how do they compare to the minis.

You don’t have to buy the paper models the plans are free to download and print out as many as you like. The models are this guy’s hobby and he is working on making every single model from aliens movie in paper model format. You can get the models at this link http://aliens.humlak.cz/aliens/Aliens_papirove_modely.htm

Just look under the LV5-426 section for the colony and dropship models.

When you print the files out make sure you don’t have shrink to fit turned on otherwise it shrinks and centers the parts. If you just print them out normally they should print out just fine on card paper. My models and dropship are just the right size for Marine minis.

Wow,

Excellent work on the paper models.

I've a ton of aliens and marines miniatures (from now defunct Leading Edge games). I know E-Bay sometimes sells them. I've purchased quite a few. There are a lot of re-casts though, so caveat emptor. Having said that, if you're like me and just want them for gaming, you won't mind.

yeah I'm hoping to sometime get my hands on at lesat 10 aliens and 5 marines from the leading edge figures. just so I can have them for gaming. thinking about trying my hand sometime at making my own figures using the GW greenstuff modeling putty.

Ahhhh... Aliens, one of my all-time favorite movies. A well written system with great miniatures is something I would drop some serious money on if they could ever do it right. However, the greedy suits at Fox want an arm and a leg for a license to movie property 20+ years old, and the only company that could afford it choose to use (spit) Clix figures based on the poorest films in the franchise. Brilliant work WizKids!

Until Fox comes it it's senses or a competent gaming company can float the costs to get a license, I'm holding on tight to my LEG aliens swarm. I don't have any LEG marines, but I have GZG and Denizen miniatures that will serve more than adequately.
