AIUI there are some mistakes in there, but some issues with the chart that I thought were mistakes turned out not to be, based careful reading of the rules. Some remain but I need to sit and catalogue them for querying.
From memory (no book here) - If its listed as a Fighter and carries a bomb load it ALWAYS takes penalties, so there is no need to list the bomb load as 'optional'. There are a number of aircraft where the alternate loads are 'optional' and it makes a difference to the carrying aircraft which takes some negative effect from carrying the optional load. In some cases the alternate load simply is an alternate with no penalties accrued to the aircraft for taking that particular load.
(I am currently assuming that where torps and bombs are both listed for a bomber and not italicised that you still have to pick one loadout - its just that plane takes no penalties for the selection)
