Adventure Levels

Kythos

Mongoose
I was interested in purchasing all the Conan adventures but most of them do not mention what character levels they are for. Does anyone know or could they list them for me. Thanks so much.

welcome to the forum !

reavers of the vilayet - 7th to 8th lvl

heretics of tarantia - 5th to 7th lvl

tower of the elephant - 4th to 6th

tales of the black kingsoms - 3rd to 4th lvl

defending the west (adventure in "across thunder river") - low level (suitable for any lvl)

A few more:

Lurking Terror of Nahab - 4-6 characters of 5th-6th level

Coming of Hanuman - ?

Black Stones of Kovag Re - 1st level?

The Conan Compendium has a couple of adventures as well...

Just some added info...:

Tales of the Black Kingdoms actually consists of three separate adventures, that are for levels:
3rd-4th
4th-6th
5th-7th

The Coming of Hanuman is stated to be for level 1st-3rd. It can very easily be scaled upwards, though, and I think a 1st-level party would have a pretty hard time surviving the adventure as written.

Are there modification side-bars like they have in DUNGEON now?

No.

But I don't really see the point of the "Scaling the adventure" sidebars in Dungeon, because it's usually a simple case of adding (or removing) a few levels to NPCs.

(And you have to do all the math yourself -- the sidebars would be more useful if they actually provided the modified statblocks. Of course, that would greatly increase the page count, but perhaps they could be provided in a free PDF download on the publisher's website.)

Oh, I agree. DUNGEON used to have more useful modifications, however they have slimmed them down. It's not the problem of "if" you can modify them, however I think that having the actual author do the modification serves a greater purpose.

Mainly, I like to have the sidebars because I don't have a lot of time, even to do that stuff. The less I have to scribble in my book, the better :)

[edit] one other thing I thought of is that since "CR's" don't exist in the CRPG, it's probably even more important that the author or someone who does CRPG work to have some well-thought modifications for other levels.

The reason why DUNGEON originally did it is because people wouldn't purchase their magazine without it. DM's are time-crunched bunch and they're looking for a lower amount of work if they are in-fact going to purchase a product. Aren't adventures supposed to "save you the work of writing and adventure yourself?"
